Hmmmmmmm, wonder if he wants payment via western union as well? What a bargain.

I did say a punt. If he had 1000s of positive feedback and lots of lovely feedback it wouldn't have been a punt. If you live close by or paid by PayPal the risk is relatively low. I agree it is likely to be a scam but I'm fairly sure we all thought that about the Ed White recently.

It's sold now. Someone has taken a punt.
I liked in the description "no silly offers please as I'd rather sell to a porn shop"

It's disappeared. Must have been removed but I didn't think eBay cared about blatant fakes/scams?

They do care, just not often enough.

Ones with lots of bids often seem to be left to run.

Is the buyer not covered with PayPal?

I guess someone local to a low feedback ebayer could potentially get a good deal but pretty sure if you 'buy' an item and pay with PayPal and nothing turns up you get a refund.

I was reading the other day about people that put 'no returns' being worthless for them. As eBay will happily favour the buyer if they're not happy.

Indeed so but it seems to me that (a) it's better not to pay out for a scam unless you can help it, no matter what protection you have, and (b) no consumer protection is foolproof.
