Next they will want to keep the box in case people sell them lol . That's something that would annoy me and make me walk away
I got a phone call earlier today from the Rolex AD DM Robinson regarding collecting 2 incoming
watches this weekend- during the conversation the salesman said 'we can't let you have the hang tags
with the watches- we aren't allowed to because people were selling them'
Has anyone else experienced this concept?
He said the watches have hang tags but I have to leave them at store!

You call that man back and tell him you WILL be taking them, They are your property as they are part of the sale as stated on The Rolex Website. There is no way I'd let them away with that. Make a show if you have to.
Tell him to shove his watches... He's probably the one that's going to sell your hangtags on eBay.

"You never actually own rolex hang tags. The AD just look after them for you"
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
He probably meant that "by people was selling them" he was referring to himself!!
That's not a policy coming from Rolex. If you can get the models from elsewhere I'd be going down the hang tags or poke it route.
Soon Rolex ADs will insist your watch doesn't leave their showroom in case you decide to sell it.
I have heard this mentioned on the forum before. Surely it is none of his business what you choose to do with your property?
Where can this all end?

Having a bit of a problem - I was looking at my rolex via the youtube stream that the dealer allows me to view it (during opening hours) and it occurs to me I'd like to actually wear it. However the dealer says its their policy that new Rolex can only be view online for the first twelve months of ownership. Do you think I can get them to let me wear it after 11 months?
Total BS....tell him you want them as part of authenticity
Definitely can't force that upon you. It may be what they want to do, but you must have every right to do as you please with them. They're yours. Get them or tell the AD to get lost.
What a terrible way to treat a customer.
Utterly insane. Who is the dealer who came up with this wheeze?
And have you already paid for these watches?
It would be interesting to phone Rolex UK and see what they make of this?
Tell him to hand them over or you'll get him sectioned.
Report this AD to Rolex I say!
What are the watches BTW?
What about bezel protectors !! Unbelievable , once you pay for them you can do what you like with them .
You should name the AD
Pathetic. Walk away.
That's shocking , you waited all that time for them & the AD ruins it by being dick.
I would have once agreed with many and walked away.
Nowadays, with models hard to get hold of, I would argue the toss, but it wouldn’t bother me enough to lose the watches.
I would initially call Rolex UK to know where they stand. Then I would spend a lot of time in the ADShop at his busiest hour.
'Against stupidity, the gods themselves struggle in vain' - Schiller.
That's ridiculous... I'd be curious what Rolex UK says.
Talk about fake indignation!
The brand is merely flaunting its strength, teasing its imploring masses and gifting existing owners with a warm reminder that they made the smart choice.
Come on, admit that you love it.
If they don't like people selling the tags why don't they just do w/o them.
All this fury and indignation about hang tags!!
If they are that important, walk away.
Think clearly before you do. Don't let the ones egging you on spoil it for you.
It's about a vendor not supplying what has been paid for. For a vendor to withhold items that have been paid for is not honest, regardless of their claimed motivation.
To try to belittle the valid concern merely because the specific issue in question is hang tags is to rather miss the point.
Or to put it another way: Stop trolling.
You pay for what you agree (the contract) with the dealer. Doesn't matter that it's normal/usual to have the hang tags. If the dealer wants to exclude them from the sale he can do.
Someone mentioned Rolex website, again that's irrelevant - the contract is with the dealer.
I would be interested to know who the Dealer is and which watches they are ?
Digger
I have been buying from Tourneau for years.
They always keep the hang tags or atleast 99% of the time.
I have never questioned it or felt the need for the hang tag or felt denied.
Why?
What am I going to do with those?
Wear the watch with the hang tag to advertise what I paid?
I rarely ever look at the box/Papers again unless I sell the watch for some reason.
Some consider the hang tags matter when reselling but a proper receipt is far more helpful.
Anyway,it is very simple.
If they matter,walk away.
