    Grand Tour

I know there are a lot of folks on here who got bored with the Top Gear format over the last few seasons, but I think this is going to be a LOT better than the last (Chris Evans) Top Gear series.

Well it's got to be better than the program with that odious little ginger fellow.

Are they throwing more money at it than the BBC, per episode?

    Huge amounts apparently.

I think the owners or amazon have given them an open cheque book, apparently they wanted to do the 3 hyper cars from last series that they never got to race and talked to the amazon owners about it and the trouble they have in renting them to use on a track and how the manufactures did not want them to race against each other, and the amazon owner just said "just buy them if you want them"

The trailer suggests that they are deviating little from what has come before, save with a bigger budget. That will annoy some and delight millions.

Personally, I can't wait but I'm not expecting them to reinvent the wheel.

I am looking forward to this, with the money Amazon have it should at least be good fun!

The trailers have been a scream and I saw them on The Late Show too. Makes you realise it was them not the format that was so good.

I reckon it'll be a combination of the challenges/tours and news segments rolled into a road trip.

Probably not a bad investment, though, to be honest!

I doubt we'll be seeing many of any of those cars cropping up cheap on eBay Motors any time soon!

Looking at Clarkson on the prime ads it seems he's spent a large portion of the huge Amazon budget on cakes.

I now realize: Grand Tour = GT; the opposite of TG...

I can't wait. Should be a laugh. Although I'd be quite happy for them to go down the route of top gear US and make every episode a "special". Never did enjoy the reasonably priced car or power laps. I want the news segment, and long features, not lots of 10 minute segments of this then that.

Besides buying the Amazon Dongle thing, is there any other way to Watch this? Apple TV or online etc?

So is it a case of paying the £79 for a full years Amazon subscription?

I think that the £79 gets you Amazon Prime for a year too.

If that's worth anything to you, of course...

I don't think I've EVER paid for Next Day on Amazon (and usually go for free delivery), but I'm not of the 'instant gratification' generation any more

I think that's only part of the point: the other part is that with 'next day' you know when it's going to arrive and can plan. Unless you pay a lot extra for named day delivery.

I was about to ask the same question as a previous poster. I'm assuming you sign up, like Netflix but on yearly contracts not monthly. Then use whatever device you like to use the content, in my case PS4. Again like Netflix.

The 'Fire Stick' is for those who only have a TV, right?

And do we think they'll be an offer just before GT starts? I'm definitely going to watch so will be signing up, just hesitating on the 'when'. The Prime bit will be useful-ish since I have an Amazon account but rarely use it.

Worth it if you get the student discount (50% off) - I think I pay £39 p.a.

That gives me free next day delivery (has got me out of a hole on more than one occasion!), Prime Video (OK - not brilliant but they announced the new Clarkson thing just after i joined so - bonus), Prime music - which is actually OK, Prime photos - UNLIMITED (yes really - I've about 170Gb on there at the moment) backup for images, Early access to lightning deals - can be handy and a few other bits.

I must think it's worth it as I keep paying the money.

    Cheers,

    Mark C

Really looking forward to the Grand Tour.

I must be one of the few people who never got tired of watching Clarkson, May and Hammond mess around in cars.

I'm you all the way I love the chemistry between these guys and a shame I can't get a student discount for half price as I would sign up now :)

I was beginning to get fed up with old top gear but since the Chris Evans era bombed and the lack of anything else I'm looking forward to the grand tour opening episode. I heard somewhere ( could be wrong) that Amazon budget per episode was 5 times the amount of BBC 2.

I pay monthly but this means you don't get the free delivery.

Prime delivery is handy with your subscription but I'd advise anyone considering to check they're in an area that receives next day delivery first as I found out I'm not after subscribing.
