Very nice watches Marc, unusual and interesting to see on this forum. I sold almost all my vintage pieces some years ago. This may have been the rarest ( I'm not counting limited editions as "rare" except by design ) ...
Rolex 1530, which I bought from James Dowling. Perhaps fewer of these than those knackered old dive watches with the red writing people seem to covet so highly :-)

OP,nice vintage watches and honestly don't mind the thread. There IS a long,similar thread with tons of pics from a few months ago which you might want to look at with tons of great pics. Am sure though members will be happy to share their pics again. There are some members here with some great vintage stuff- some really rare ones. The ones that I really like are the Heuer. Never had one but hopefully they will soon put up their pics.
IWC Ingenieur Quartz ref. 3303. Only 160 was made in steel/gold.

I'm enjoying this thread and have been back to look at the OP again. The Emerson Fittipaldi Timex fascinated me...so it was off to the web. There I found a couple of references that give its year as 1975 rather than 1974, but they did establish that it is a mechanical watch (although I gather there was an EF Electric)...link (in Dutch).

These Sorna Chronographs are pretty scarce. They probably made as a any as they could, but not many left these days. These are is excellent condition too!

These Meister Anker Chronos from the 70's are pretty rare. But man are they beautiful!
Well I'm not sure this is rare exactly but I am yet to find another with all of the same spec. 25 jewel, incerbloc movement, automatic, roulette date wheel, Solvil et Titus. I have found all sorts over the years but never all of the above in one watch. Perhaps you can point me towards one if I ever need spare parts tho lol.
My mom gave it to my dad on his 21st and he gave it to me on my 21st so its value to me is priceless. If I had to sell all of my watches and could keep only one it would be this one with no questions asked.

I was immediately transported back in time to my early teens.
Timex was the first watch that my parents gave me and of course Emerson was at that time the No.1 formula One driver. :)
I have this one, its a late 70's Scubapro 500 shrouded diver, these are rare enough, but this one strangely is branded Nivada Depthmaster on the dial, the dial is exactly like the other 500's but without the branding, the rest is just like other 500s, I have only seen one other Nivada branded Scubapro 500 on the internet..
Here's one of mine. A 1940s Lunesa with a dial to die for. Never seen another from this company with a dial like mine:

A few Lemania chronographs around, but I've never seen another one with this retailer on the dial

I think when you get to vintage watches quite a few of them are rare or maybe even unique if the others have been discarded over time.

Seiko's don't get much more rare than the 6306-7001 Scubapro 450...... These are two real ones!
At any time there can be upwards of a dozen of these on eBay...... - and all of them are fakes.

I've a few fairly rare to see watches, like once or twice a year on ebay level, but real rarities would be these two early quartz(1972) both with the same movement.
Oddly though this dial is heavily featured in Girard Perregaux's promo material of the time, they seem to be vanishingly rare. Some had even suggested they were never sold to the public. It took me many years to get one. I've only seen about six in the wild(inc GP's museum example) and this has the so far unique milanese band.
Consul were in bed with GP for a time and they used their new fangled quartz engine in one of their models. When I say one, I mean that's the only one I've ever seen or even heard of. It doesn't show up in the literature of the period and GP have no record of it either. I suspect it may be a prototype. The dial was never fully finished and the finishing on the case casting is minimal.
OK they're marmite style wisebut rare they are.

Only 75 of these were made, and many have since been melted down (I have a complete spare movement, dial and handset from one of those).

My late grandfather left me two watches as a family heritage. An Omega, which I don't consider to be very rare and this Astrolux, which is less expensive but definitely more rare than the Omega:

You really don't see many of these KK. Nice. Maybe it's old age/nostalgia/hipster/daftness[delete as applicable]but I really have a liking for that oh so 70's shape. For me the 1970's may have brought us horrendous fashions and the like, but in a couple of areas it brought us real innovation, television for one and IMHO watch design. Brands really pushed the boat out in design in ways that would be nigh on unthinkable nowadays. For the majority of the big Swiss names at least. They're chasing "heritage" and "authentic" above all. Though I don't like the look of Hublot at all and see them as majorly overpriced, I do admire that they'll go for wacky and don't look like something from the 1930's or 1950's.
I am so liking the Seiko contingent here. :o

My probably rarest watch is this Seiko from '73. It is a real certified Chronometer and you don't see this very often.

It is pretty hefty in the hand, at 180g, but fits so well it's always balanced and doesn't feel heavy on the wrist. Real shame that so many have been melted down, at one point not so long ago these were worth £4k+ just as scrap.
