    BMW M6

    Hi all

    My head has turned.

I have a CLK55 AMG which I have had for the last three years. All good with the her but I'm getting bored and fancy a change.

Would appreciate anyone would be able to comment on this especially views on the M6.

    Many thanks.

    Roy

M6 Gran Coupe is on my wishlist. An awesome car both in looks and performance IMHO, as I've always preferred fast saloons to more exotic machines.

I would echo the comments that if you are going to go for a 6, then get the Gran Coupe as it looks so much better with the 4 doors. Great car.

    6 series

A senior guy at work has the 6 series convertible

    Awesome looking car

I had the old shape as a 3 litre petrol auto and loved it

M6 is a great cat but I'd be running the diesel equivalent

My mate had the 640d convertible before the m6 Also great. 40mpg and fast

Exactly. Wait a minute.....just about to sell mine for a C2 964. Anyway, in modern car terms, the jap car would monster the BM.

Just a slight detour.........have you looked at the BMW M5 3-Jahre edition? Also 600 bhp, a few bob more (!) but likely to hold its value better and looks superb!

The M6 GC is disgustingly quick. I'm not really a car person but it really impressed me.

The only car I preferred, although it didn't feel as quick, was the F-Type R Coupe. The noise was glorious.

I'm guessing here the op is referring to the old v10 m6 not the newest version?

I used to own a v10 m6 and it was the best car I've ever owned, full stop. It's actually up for the sale right now on piston heads from the guy I sold it to couple of years ago, grey £15,999 about 80k miles, I am sorely tempted to buy it back off him. However I promised myself if I am ever to have another it would be in interlagos blue, they look stunning!

To the op, do it, you won't regret it as long as your lucky and nothing goes wrong! It's worth the risk!

If its that model, my next door neighbour has one. I think it's an '06, black with around 30K on the clock.
He's mentioned possibly selling it in the past so could be swayed ;)
I don't mind having a word if its of interest?

I had A M6 Gran Coupe for 13 months - loved it. A great car. Got an amazing deal on it and really enjoyed owning it. Very quick, comfortable, big boot.

I drive the M4 last weekend on a track - so much torque i felt the earth move.

Personally I think the M6 is a bit of a barge, have you considered a 911S instead or an E500 instead?

I'm sorry but to describe the M6 as a barge and then recommend an E500 in the same sentence! Really?

    Agreed!!

Also when you firm the dampers up and put all the m settings on the m6 it really does shrink around you.

That's the difference for me between m cars and m-sport cars, some people think they are similar but they really are miles apart in terms of feel, responsiveness and agility

Fair point! They are both barges. However the M6 is bigger and heavier than the E500.

But I suppose unless you its intended to track it, they are much as a muchness.

So Porsche 911s would be a better choice them

Thanks gents for all the comments and suggestions. Apologies, I've been u well of late. Fell over badly and fractured my back ribs. Pain has been excruciating and still not over yet! Yes, the car I'm after is the 2005 to 2007 model. I have yet to see one in the flesh nor driven one! No mad rush as I have a company car and thus will be used as a second weekend car same as my CLK55. Will have to sell the AMG to make room for this but the replacement choice is definitely on car.Let me know your thoughts. Many thanks again. rocket-roy

Sorry to hear you have been poorly.

For a weekend car a 911 would be my choice - but then I am very biased

Only if you buy one and then claim it has anything resembling performance or masculinity?

Still won't be "manly" but it's all the performance you will ever need.
