I'm one for Nixie clocks. Look great next to hi-fi etc. The wife hates them. Definitely a bloke thang.

I initially sold the idea to Mrs Curta as a project to get the mini Curtas interested in electronics. We built a small clock first, using inexpensive top view IN-12 Russian tubes. It turned out that she really liked it, so we progressed to the large and lovely side view clock which has a prominent spot in the living room and never fails to intrigue and mesmerise visitors.
Our next project will probably be a nixie thermometer.
Atmos clock?
I've become rather obsessed with looking at desk clocks on eBay

Great looking clocks fellas
I got lucky & won this on eBay last year for around £15, made by Rapport, its solid wood, very retro & most visitors
offer me my money back for it : )
You need a reasonable level of soldering competence, a knowledge of electronic components and to be able to work safely with electricity; instructions can be downloaded from the PV Electronics website to see exactly what is entailed. The ICs and tubes are mounted in sockets so you don't have to solder the legs directly but they are nevertheless a little bit fiddly, as are the (optional) surface mount LEDs. Although powered by a 12V DC supply, there is a High Voltage Generator circuit (150V - 190V) that has to be safely tested.
The instructions include the following warnings:
DANGER: The clock pcb includes a switched-mode voltage booster circuit. This generates nominally 170 Volts DC, but is capable of generating up to 300 Volts before adjustment. Assembly may only be undertaken by individuals who are suitably qualified and experienced in electronics assembly, and are familiar with safe procedures for working with high voltages. If in doubt, refer to a suitably qualified engineer before proceeding.
The voltages generated by this circuit can give a potentially LETHAL ELECTRIC SHOCK.
DISCLAIMER: This product is supplied as a kit of parts, intended only for suitably qualified electronic engineers, who are suitably qualified and experienced in electronics assembly, and are familiar with safe procedures for working with high voltages. The supplier, his agents or associates accept no liability for any damage, injury or death arising from the use of this kit of parts.
This is not a finished product, and the person assembling the kit is responsible for ensuring that the finished product complies with any applicable local regulations governing electrical equipment, eg. UL, CE, VDE.
Looks like they ripped the idea & design from QLOCKTWO which came out a few years ago;

Kind of answered your own question... ;)
Appologies, I didn't see you post in regards to the clock.
I have one of these, though it was a gift (wow.. look how much they go for!!!):
Breitling Dealer Desk Clock
It is quartz and ticks (rather than sweeps), but the case is amazingly well insulated with multiple layers of sound deadening and you barely hear a thing if anything at all. Personally, for all my love for watches and clocks, I can't stand the sound of a ticking clock when I'm working.. kind of reminds me to hurry up all the time :)
and definitely +1 for the Nixie clocks, although I would have one of those in the living room.
Ive had a Nixie clock with IN-18s (big tubes) for about 11 years now, its a superb thing and everyone who sees it comments on it, I wouldnt be without it... its a living room clock really, its quite large and throws off quite a bit of light. On my desk I have a curled up Omega SensorQuartz that when setup on the strap stands perfectly to be a desk clock.
This is a photo of someone elses, but mine is the same... looks much better in real life lol.
While we're on QLOCKTWO - they do a watch too that looks pretty good.

If you want to have a go at making a Word Clock then have a look here http://www.raspberrypi.org/das-wordclock/
And a mini desk clock to make with the kids for about £50 - http://fortoffee.org.uk/2014/12/word...ith-a-unicorn/
Sticking with the Heuer theme, how about one of these
No idea on a clock but have to say that is the crappest mirror ever!!
Although to be fair it's the only one that will make you look better looking.
You big gay bear.
Batchelor pad my arse, you'll have some new strumpet up the duff before you know it and be starting this crap all over again.......
Have I helped?
You've helped no end Jason you always do.
That's no mirror - it's art!
And your words are as insightful as ever. However I hope they don't come true this time as I really can't afford more (children and strumpets)
