    Vintage Diver Thread.

Congratulations all, fantastic vintage pieces on this thread, here's my humble contribution, my seiko 6309-7040 from 1983 and my 6105-8110 from 1974

EDIT: does anyone know, why I can't seem to upload photos properly. Normally I use the tapatalk app on my ipad across multiple watch forums and only this one seems to allow to upload my photos with a very poor resolution? Hope you can help, tks a lot in advance

From someone who owns not a single vintage diver, I just thought I'd say how much I am enjoying this thread. Especially loving the seikos!

Some beautiful watches in this thread with the Seikos being notable for their excellent cosmetic condition. My favourites though are probably the pre-TAG Heuers. Very nice looking watches.

Yes, those wedge markers at 15, 30 and 45 are part of the charms of the watch Henry; give the bezel a nice balance I think.

I've got hooked on the weird & wonderful Omega divers from that era.

I'll have another go at this when I have time. The UG with the gold bits on the bezel may be borderline but I'm not sure.

    Just dug 3 more out.

    Porsche design by IWC

Doxa Sub 600T Professional from the 1970's on its original bracelet

Longines something or another, I think its actually a pilot watch as its nto a divers bezel, but still taking the liberty of indulging myself in this thread. Anyway, its a chronograph with a Valjoux 72 movement

Busy with people ripping my roof off and preparing to go to work again for 1st time in nearly 10 years so missed this
thread, a lot of really interesting pieces. Here is mine - the only one but I think a shark like Rolex that can go a bit deeper
than this old boy might appear soonish!

I keep returning to this thread to look at these two. Gorgeous pieces. I especially like the "no date" versions.

I've enjoyed looking through this thread. Nice to see some vintage love on here.

    Here's my contribution...

These next two Zeniths don't have a bezel but were rated at 300m with large screw down crowns.

    This one is 1969

    This one is 1970

This one below was 600m and 1970

    Seamaster 120 is 1972

    Cheers,
    Neil.

Is it me or are many of these 'vintage divers' more stylish than today's offerings? I know its a subjective thing but somehow the use of colour and the design just seems to have something about it that I think is missing with many of what I've seen in today's market where many of the divers merge into one!

I'm new to this whole watch game so maybe I've just not seen enough of the current crop of diver watches but I really do like what I've seen on this thread. I wouldn't know where to start in looking for something vintage though. It seems that, unsurprisingly, Seiko keeps popping up and I imaging they'll be as reliable as today's Seikos but what I'd be interested to know what people thought might be worth looking out for if I was going to get something vintage i.e. which brands are good, any dos and don'ts?

Thanks in advance and lets see more of these great watches.

That is a thing of beauty. If its not to cheeky to ask, how much would one expect to pay for one of those.

Assuming it is a serious enquiry, I am going to say this- there are hundreds of different vintage divers to choose from. nobody can tell you which one you should go for. Different pedigree, prices, availability etc.
common sense dictates that things to look out for are the price, service history, authenticity, availability of parts, condition etc.
Given you are new to this, I would suggest you spend some time reading here and other fora, get a sense of what appeals to you, may be do a little research and ask a little more pointed questions that will draw helpful responses. Feel free to ask for help and guidance but be kinder to people you are asking for help. Do a little homework and be a little more specific. Am not being patronizing here but if you really are serious about getting into watches, it is going to need a little bit more effort from your side.

    Good luck.
