What a great write up and such a lovely watch. Congrats.
A nicely composed and very informative post - thank you. Lovely photos as always. I'm counting the days with interest!
I had looked at the 15400 a few years ago, but the servicing costs and the more delicate appearance (compared to say a Rolex Sub) put me off. Cracking looking watch though - I love the simplicity and elegance.
What a great write up and such a lovely watch. Congrats.
Congratulations Tony, the correct decision in the end and your collection now is truly outstanding. Time to put the feet up and enjoy the timepieces :)
welcome to the AP club, had one of these on my wrist last year, in fact I had a few on but decided on the diver the extra depth in the waffle dial and the hands swung it.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading that informative post and particularly your changing thought processes along the way.
The watch of course is superb.

Congrats it is a real beauty.
I'm glad to see that you finally have an AP on your wrist, which may i add looks great on you.
Wear it well
Tony, beautifully written post and really interesting history. We've obviously discussed the RO over the last couple of weeks and, frankly, it's a stunner. You've hit the jackpot with that one, that blue! Maybe I'll get lucky and see it tomorrow morning when we meet up.
Many congratulations Tony, and a fascinating post to read.
Cheers..

A nice pick up mate, and of course superb pics and a great write up.
I personally prerer the 15300 for size, but TBH that's splitting hairs as they are both sweet.
Great read, and yet another beautiful watch. Love it. I do have a thing for blue watch faces mind you....
Always been a fan of Genta Tony; and AP got some of his best designs, (other than my fav Ingenieur!) - great write up as usual...
Rob
Bravo!
Love the APRO.
Glad you ended up with what you wanted - looks like a keeper ;)
Glad you finally went for the AP.
Looking at Genta's original drawings, the finished watch ended up being very close to his vision, the Patek not so much.
The AP is indeed his masterpiece, the Nautilus a decent B-side or sequel.
What a stunning watch! Congratulations! Great write up and stunning photos from you as usual. I really enjoyed it.
You did make the right choice Tony. The AP is about as near design perfection, aesthetically speaking, as it's possible to get - as the original drawings above show, he should have put the pen down then.

Congratulations Tony - there is a lot to like about that beauty.
Yip, that's the one I'd have picked too. And would fly under the radar too, which is a big plus for me.
Great photos, interesting write-up, and a really beautiful watch!
Had the same watch on my wrist earlier this week in the AP boutique in Venice.....wise choice Tony.
Great write up. Great pics. Great watch. Congratulations.
Well.... I flicked through the pics a couple of days ago, but, plucked up the courage to read your first novel this morning Tony and enjoyed it... A good read, informative and intersting...
The watch is pretty special and it appears you're delighted with it... Which is what it's all about really
Enjoy
Very nice!
The blue is arguably the most interesting dial choice IMO, and it's certainly wears better size-wise for the average wrist. The white dial 15400 just looked way too big on my wrists, which are similar to yours.
What a brilliant read that was and I think you made the right choice in the end. The blue of the 15400 is the best blue you can get for a RO. Plus the slimmer case offsets the dial size to a degree.
I am becoming more and more torn between the 15300 and 15400. I have my feelers out to a few places in Europe as it is. Hopefully I can get my Royal Oak by end of next month.
Congrats again, it's a stunner.
Is there really much difference in the blue dials of the 15300 and 15400? It seems very subtle improvement, but you've seen both dials so you can answer this for me.
Congratulation - sometimes it feels as if all roads lead to the Royal Oak. Nothing else really compares.
Outstanding post from an outstanding bloke, well done enjoy!
Lovely, Tony! What a cracker it is!
Congratulations!
I really like this watch, and the sapphire case back is wonderful, what a view.
congratz
Love that.
Pisses all over an Aquanaut.

Terrific write up and the usual professional pics. I'm glad to read you're more settled and content on your collecting journey. Thanks for taking the time and effort with the thread.
Great write-up, hadn't really expected anything less - brilliant !!
Congratulations Tony, these are gorgeous watches, and the blue dial quite striking, yet subtle.
If there's one thing I regret, it's letting my 14790 go, oh yes, and thereafter, my 15300
I'd put AP at least on par with PP - in fact more desireable, PP appear, well, rather 'staid' now IMHO....
Enjoy it !!!
Cheers, Peter

I salute you for this incredible post.
Learn quite a few things about AP and Gerald Genta.
Great.

Absolutely brilliant write-up. Thanks for the read :)
And I thought I had decided the Royal Oak wasn't for me then stumble across this thread. Damn that looks good!!
