Thanks for trying to get a change...I, and I suspect the others, didn't realise you had submitted the finaldrawings.
There were a few references to triangular markers in this thread:
- #9 The triangular markers a cue from this dial...
- #12 I really like the triangles in the minute track.
- #22 the minute track and triangular markers, hands, yellow second hand and case shape are all good from my perspective
- #136 but there's just one thing that I miss from the original designs: the triangular hour markers… It's only a small detail but I thought triangular markers were a really good feature to keep from the original speedometer dials,…
- #139 I also really liked the triangular markers.
- #142 …I agree with those who prefer the triangular markers…
- #148 …I might try adding the triangle markers back having seen this…
Looking forward to a very different watch.

That's the best looking TF watch yet (IMHO )
I would/will definitely buy one of those!

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
There was a documentary on the BBC last week about Pegasus Bridge in Normandy.
There was a clear shot of a wartime motorbike with a similar speedo.
I noticed it because it had the 0-10kph at the top of the dial, not the bottom as normal.
This is the first time I have seen (or noticed) the zero at the top format.
I didn't recognise the bike, but the speedo was similar to this one - so probably on a Royal Enfield

Edit: I didn't realise that they went that fast - surely they would only need to use half that dial.

I voted number 1 in the poll, but actually I like that bottom pic above.
The only things I would change, is to lose the 5ATM(as a couple of others have commented, it has no place on this speedometer inspired dial IMO), and I also agree a one handed watch would have worked a treat here given the influence.
I would certainly consider buying any of these mind you, very nice designs.
Oh, and hello all, long time lurker but finally managed to register after so many failed attempts in the past
If that's the final then I'm very happy. It's extremely nice.
Don't just do something, sit there. - TNH
Eddie, congratulations, excellent, thanks for the last minute change to triangles.
No. 16 for me please, and if possible a case back without the Black Shadow.
When?
Now thats a thought, I could put a BMW or a Land Rover sticker on it.
But in due fairness that i wouldnt want either, but as mentioned before, it does not matter much, its only the backside of a very nice watch after all.
I think I might get one of these, motorbike case back or not (preferably not, though, Eddie - Any chance of a plain caseback option? ).

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
You could always have the back ground and polished once you've bought one. Otherwise it's back to post #166 and read on from there for my other suggestion.
Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
This project started when a well-known motoring commentator and writer asked me if I was interested in a collaboration to make an homage to Vincent motorcycles, with the dial based on a Smiths speedometer design. I couldn't use the name "Vincent" on the watch because it's already registered but "Black Shadow" isn't. As an homageto a motorcycle, it's only right that it should have a motorcycle design on the case back.
After I showed him a few early designs, I didn't hear from him again. u

That makes a lot of sense, but the Smiths Speedo is so ubiquitous.
Something like this might well appeal to some.
But I know when I'm beaten

Maybe a Ł26 see-though case back as an optional extra would keep everyone happy.
Same as the PRS-5.
Never going to please everyone on an engraved caseback. I'm a biker and wouldn't want the initial caseback if there was an option without. Too many shifting brand loyalties within the biking fraternity for a long term tie in. Great looking watch though!
Check out which names are already registered before you make suggestions.

Perhaps something along the lines of:
Nice, that caseback would make sense, its a homage to a SMITH speedo, and displayed proudly on all sorts of vintage vehicles, no matter if one rides a Black Shadow, an old Land Rover or something else.
Lovely idea and looks great - but if only it was a one-hander.
I'll be in for one of these but I'd really prefer a blank standard type Timefactors caseback as these Smiths clocks take me back to my Mini ownership days :-)
Case back as envisaged please.
Mega wants
I've followed up my wallet loosening read through the Seafire thread with a read of this thread, which has had the same effect.
This one looks terrific too, and I love the speedometer inspired look. I'm tempted to pick up both when they come out.
Interesting idea.

They are no longer made and the trade mark has lapsed. The weren't registered in the classification for wrist watches anyway.

The connection with dirty old bikes remains either way.
I must say - although I found the lack of a '12' marker a bit disconcerting - the more I look at this the more I like it.
I know its going to be an Automatic - but does anyone know what movement is proposed for it?
Thanks
You TF guys have got a hell of a sense of style. Maybe you're the people who should be talking to Roger Smith about the future of the British watch industry.
This the is the first non-diver that has really caught my attention for a good while. Definitely on my must have list
For all I know about the movement see this.
I have just noticed these new Swatch 'speedo' inspired watches for next years collection (from Watch Insider). They seemed not to have gone for any logical notion on the dial of telling time. Obviously Eddie's are far more inspired, but thought it would be interesting to highlight that there is a developing of this idea / style in the wider watch world.
That would be a very impressive watch if it was linked to a GPS system.
Ideal for travelling passengers on trains, boats, buses.
But if the dial can't tell you the time, and it can't tell you your speed - it's useless.
