That must be the sadistic side of me coming out!

Sufferfest have a video called ISLAGIATT. Has anyone tried it out? At 2 hours long it sounds 'fun'!

'It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time' for those non-Sufferlandrians out there.
Personally, that and Rubber Glover are the only ones I've not tried. Great videos, well worked intervals and the music's actually pretty good on most. Angels is still my 'favourite' though.

Just an aside, but if you think the Sufferfest are tough normally, try doing them in the Trainer Road environment. If you've got a turbo that's on the list, then you only need an ANT+ stick and you can use it to calculate the power output (or a proxy for anyway). Doing a Sufferfest video and having Trainer Road telling you what power you should be working to takes it to another level.

I believe the Tour of Sufferlandria starts on Saturday as well... 11 videos in 9 days. Madness!

Well Wolfie update after many months and appx 10 hot washes
Aldi tights , good as the day they were bought stunning!
Aldi top , smells like mad, not breathable , wont buy again
Aldi gloves, remarkable as even for £4.99 i think they have a waterproof membrane(i can see it!) BUT the downside is the cuff is pulling away from the palm. 10 washes 5 quid , marginal. Have to say gloves kept my hands toasty warm. Equivalent Sealskinz £30 , will they last one winter yep.
Will i buy them agai? Too right!

Hi i converted my old (1992) Orange Prestige to single speed. Took off big ring used middle 32 tooth , bought single speed conversion from ebay, consisting of 16 tooth plus spacers. Small chain , existing drop outs 4 years on I love it. Overtook some roadies last Sunday in the Trough of Bowland spinning like a mad man. When they caught me up , not long, there were a number of positive remarks for the single speeder.

I must take some pictures of my current steed tomorrow (now the sun's out).
I've been 'upgrading' over the winter, and now that I have fully recovered from my abdominal surgery, it will all be christened on Sunday

That is cool, I love the feeling you get from putting a bike together from scratch. I have done it 3 times, I wish I had a excuse to build another. :)

Thanks to someone on here who mentioned Canyon bikes, which I had never heard of before, I bought an Ultimate CF SL 9.0 and it arrived earlier than expected which meant that I have not got round to buying the seemingly endless accessories/equipment as otherwise today would have been a great day to start cycling after many years out of the saddle. Not long now though.

Dusted the summer bike off this weekend. It's getting a bit long in the tooth now so looking for something new I reckon.

Yes, I joined the spandex brigade (my wife's words) this morning for my first decent trip on my (slowly becoming a) vintage Cannondale with Campagnolo Delta brakes. 52kms without any problems. I'm waiting for Daylight Saving Time later this month. It will give me a lot more time for a few trips a few days/week.

I've had to new bikes in the last month. I bought a super commuter a few weeks ago and a nicer one on Friday.

Here's the commuter. A Pretorius Outeniqua with chorus groupset, CHris King/H Plus Son handbuilts and TRP hybrid hydraulic disc brakes.

This one replaced my now dead Canyon (RIP)

Colnago C59, super record, Enve cockpit/seatpost, Selle Italia SLR carbon, and Mavic R-Sys SLR

I had my 1st outing today alone on my road bike (frame bought off here then built up).

I got my ass kicked on Mam Nick (stolen pic below) by 2 others but caught them up about an hour later and set a new downhill PB in the process (87km/h) :)

Had my second "off" this year on Friday. Car coming in the opposite direction did a right turn directly in front of me and I hit him side on. The car seemed to come off worse than me with a sizeable body shaped dent behind his rear passenger door. Surprisingly little damage to my bike and no broken bones so pretty lucky really.
    Be careful out there!

Bought an old steel frame at the back end of last year and over the winter have given it bit of a face lift,it was dog rough but it's a Paul Donohue made from Columbus SLX tubes so thought it worth saving.I ended up spending far more than I intended to but I like it.The paintwork was done by Bob Jacksons in Leeds and it looks fantastic in the sun.I'll just have to see if my legs are up to my first road bike in 30 years

Reminds me of my 653reynolds tubing Ribble Road bike. The old steel frames look so gracefull compared to the bulky look of carbon or hydroformed aluminium. Yep the current bikes climb like goats and accellerate like the preverbial cat , but it nice to see a classic. Well done for taking the timee to get it right.

Ps one criticsm, you should have gone with down tube shifters, or at least durace bar end! To maintain the period effect.

disagree - steel frames are pretty popular right now and if its meant for riding rather than posing why not avail oneself of the best modern technology?

Great photo - although it really flattens the hill out and doesn't convey the pain of going up it. It is be a belting technical descent too.

Taken a long time to get all the bits together and finish it, but finally got around to christening this on the weekend with an uplift day at Bike Park Wales followed by the new Blade trail at Afan, (all in glorious sunshine!)

    Very happy with it

Just to prove it got dirty:

Got this Specialized Rockhopper 29 a couple weeks ago to replace a beat-up 1987 Nishiki Ariel. Not a "serious" mountain bike, but at almost 67, I'm not sure what I'd do with one! I'm already liking those 9x3 gears!

If you are happy with them and comfortable with the width I seriously wouldn't bother changing them.

you are really not likely to get any performance gains out of tinkering with the hardware on that.

if you absolutely must spend more money I would look at either training aids like power meters or more aero riding kit (some of the best bang for the buck in terms of gains are there actually.)

alternatively, just get out and ride that lovely bike!

agreed Josh! 3T stealth kit would be the option I suppose but I do like the bars on this. Just done a London to Paris on it - great three days of modest 95 miles per day - finishing up the Champs Elysee and under the Eiffel Tower was special! Pity the last 50 miles were done on with a broken Mavic spoke on the R-SYS SLRs. Away getting fixed now under warranty :(

Thats the joy of the Mavic warranty! That is a lovely ride, did you use Donald Hirsch's route? Where was your intermediate stay overnite in France? Looking at the mileage i am guessing you did the dover-calais route instead though?

70 of us did it. Dover - Calais, Calais - Amiens, Amiens - Paris via Chantilly. Very well organized by Tour de Force. three of the guys who started it going were heading all the way to Marrakech. I've done plenty of 100 milers but most consecutive days with decent mileage on each was three days round the Hebrides/west coast of around 75 miles per day. It definitely made me realize you ride into your fitness and get stronger! I've got about 1100 miles in now so far this year so a reasonable start. Oh, and nice Pic!

Thats for sure. The cumulative effect of the miles certainly gets felt in the legs. If you do it again it's certainly worth going the scenic route via Dieppe and stopping overnight at Lalandelle and then coming into Paris via the forests and Versailles. Lovely quiet roads and the no cars route verte is a joy!

I bought a Rose Pro 3000SL at the back end of last year, all we were doing was off road and we needed a change. I was looking for a 9 or 10 speed bike with a triple, but the Ultegra 11 speed hadn't long been out so I opted for that in a double instead , with an 11-32 cassette and a 50-34 up front. The only thing I had changed at the build up was to opt for a carbon seat post rather than alloy, and so far the bike has been very comfy to ride. Just the job around here for these 57yr old legs on a decent ride of 50-60 miles, there's lots of climbs over a mile long west of Durham, some up to 1.5 miles and more, with some savage gradients in places. It's weight of @ 7.6kg helps too! I've been out on some windy days and don't think I'd care for a bike much lighter than this. I also just ordered a Felt Z95 and some mudguards for wet weather and winter duties. Pretty much the same geometry as the Rose, ie. with a slightly shorter top tube and taller head tube than a more racy bike. The Felt is 9 speed and also has an 11-32 cassette, the slightly larger gaps in the gearing won't be a problem on a bike intended for shorter wet and winter rides. Here's the Rose.....(not my picture)

Finally finished the build although needs a bit of a tweak to the stem/steerer and the rear mech isn't shifting as smoothly as I'd like but nearly there.

Keep the ones you have. You could take the PRO labelling off. A bit of acetone or sandpaper and a bit of clear would solve that. The FSA post is a little harder as even if you strip it bare it's still a bit fugly. Functional but has no elegance to it. Not having a real go. Principally that the labelling on the bar/stem combo is a bit loud (and clearly advertises a breach of the Euro rules). Rest of the bike is fine. I have two TFZeros, so know a little about what works with them aesthetically.

They are as good or better than Colnago C59/C60 so a bit of care is needed to satisfy the style police.

    Thank you !

It's very stiff and a bit of a mountain goat (much more than I am !). Not massively comfortable after 60 miles, but for 30-40 mile training rides it's quick.

You're right of course, and I've noted previously your bikes so know where you're coming from! This is in fact my third Fondriest. I also rode with the man and spent a couple of days with him in Cape Town along with a couple of mates last year - riding up and down Chapmans Peak for a post hangover (yes, he can be persuaded to drink!) breakfast one day! I like the idea of the acetone. what do you mean by the "clear"? If I can do that it would be ideal and then yes, I'd change to a 3T stealth post.

You have a nice bike. Treat it well with an Enve cockpit. It's not measurably better than any other, but looks far nicer.

I don't even know why I have a carbon bar and stem. I promised myself I wouldn't buy carbon there again after my Richey kit broke.

But the Enve stuff was too nice...
