Ralph Lauren Chronometer : Surprisingly I like it ...

I have never been a fan of fashion house watches. The Boss, Armani and even Chanel ( who make some seriously expensive pieces) watches available often make me cringe. But now this Ralph Lauren piece is available in 39 mm, I have to say I like it. I liked the original version, but it was just to large. Wot do ya think ?

nice design but £3000 is way too much for a 'fashion' watch!

    Isn't it $3,150 - which would be approx £2,000

Absolutely ludicrous money for such a brand but then I'd wager we aren't the target market.

Nice enough but I would have thought £300 - 500 would be about right

I'm an unashamed snob when it comes to fashion/jewellery brands and watches. Even those with credibility. Just can't do it.

Very expensive for what its made of and by who its made by, but then wouldn't it devalue the ralph Lauren brand if they made it too cheap? A bit like the Hugo Boss and Armarni watches? Cheap fashion watches that to me devalue the brands.

Ralph Lauren have made some decent attempts with high end movements in the past. This isn't one of them though

Good point. Similar to Ralph Lauren clothes being sold in TJ Max . Doubt we will see a watch being sold there though !

I think it demonstrates how critical something like font selection is to whether a watch works or not. There's nothing at all special about that font and the whole dial says "Timex" to me.

I nearly wet myself about the nonsensical marketing glib about a regulated Chinese movement in a blackened undoubtedly chinese made case on a canvass strap.
A chinese rip-off producer probably buying from the same sources, would sell at $300 or so.
And now we ask ourselves why fakes and homages are offered?

Not supring btw that Ralph Lauren have tripled production, doubled its retailers, and increased staff by 20 per cent. It reflects how ludicrously lucrative the Swiss Made watch fashion game is!
Richemont showing its hand again as modern day alchemists creating gold from steel.

Be aware of the Richemont link. The JLC movement was simply an in-house transfer and the chinese sources are even more in-house.

Nothing wrong and a whole lot of GOOD about the ETA clone Sellita and the COSC certifies it has been regulated to chronometer standard.
This COSC thing is as OK as it comes in the main stream watch world. Even Rolex uses it to distinguish the Rolex brand from their Tudor brand.

The only thing is that the Sellita indside denudes the ' added value' more than a JLC made movement.

I like the watch but not at that price! Around £500 and it would be worth looking at.

Price is an issue, in fact a major issue. Many will go for a lesser brand rather than a fashion brand!

Sorry I wouldn't give £30.00 for it, however if you like it enough then hey go for it,

Can you only imagine how much it would be worth in 5 years. Even in MINT condition with B and P.

Totally agree. A chronometer cert doesn't make this a $3000 watch. Ridiculously overpriced.

    Don’t like it.

The only ‘fashion’ watch I like is the Louis Vuitton LV177, but not for £10k

RL have taken to nicking others designs IMO. Many of their sunglasses, for example, are near direct copies of RayBans Persols and others. At least the design is theirs albeit using the popular mini trends for black watches, aged lume, visible screws, canvas straps, a splash of red, and full and oversized numerals as it's inspiration. They've even picked up on a movement back towards smaller overall dimensions. Someone there is paying close attention to the market. While watch forum regulars may not be their target market market, they are clearly aiming at a watch savvy market.

I quite like it but like others I think it's too expensive and also don't wanna wear a watch that says Ralph Lauren. But still I think it's a nice watch:)

Some of the Ralph Lauren watch collection are nice but way too expensive for a fashion watch IMHO.
