Only heard their recent release, Strong. Lovely song.
I've been playing If You Wait, by London Grammar, all morning... my god, what a lovely album and what a beautiful, soulful voice Hannah Reid has.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for some new music as a last-minute stocking filler. The title track and Hey Now are particularly good.
Only heard their recent release, Strong. Lovely song.
Yeah, she has an amazing voice, she does.... Truly divine!
And she's beautiful too
Great album - have been very pleased with this one too. "Wasting my Young Years" is my favourite track.
Yep been on this one for a few months, highly original album and unique voice
The London Grammer Album is fantastic, I have been fan for a while and the album does not disappoint, in fact I purchased a few copies as christmas presents.
My tip is if you like Hannahs voice combined with the chaps musical talent, you also grab a listen to artist called Agnes Obel and her album Aventine, it is amazing.

Agnes Obel - The Curse.
This is my gift to you tony for all the great pictures you take. :D
Just heard a couple of tracks on Utube, and yes very good and a beautiful voice. She reminds me of Judie Tzuke a little (voice).

The Album should be under the tree tomorrow! Wish Hannah was in my stocking!
Thanks for the tip, love hearing new music. Must say though that the Agned Obel Tracks I sampled sounds even better for my taste ..... Both now in my Amazon basket.
I picked up Agnes Obel's debut album off iTunes too, it is every bit as good as the latest album. The wife and kids even like it, which is a bonus as my wife says please switch off that wailing woman when I listen to London grammar. :/
I usually replace it with some music by Burial, it is a curve ball choice but it you have never heard of burial and you put it on some headphone's you will either dislike it or think it is the best thing ever like me.
Massive Attack Blue Lines was my best album until I discovered Burial and then Agnes Obel. I only discovered Agnes stuff last Sunday after listening to late night Annie mac show with Niles Rodgers.
I've been a Massive Attack fan for years actually, and will have a listen to Burial when I get a minute. To be honest, my music was getting a bit stale so these recommendations from someone with similar taste as I have are very timely :)
Fantastic, I love Massive Attack.
You will probably like this then , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jlwku6e7AhE
Tricky returns to form IMO.
Burial is like nothing I can describe, it is very marmite. It is his own genre really, a bit dubstep or urban soundtrack.

I live for music, I hate to calcuate how much I have spent in this passion, so i don't count the cost.
You guys should consider spotify, instant access, decent quality and reasonable price. Its a great way to explore lots of music.
It is a rental format so not for everyone but since I've started using it I listen to lots more music and a very wide range too.
£10 a month well spent!
Based on the above I am guessing you are also a fan of Polica ?
Unfortunately London Grammar are not on Spotify ( or at least I can't find them!)
No they are not at the moment but massive attack, burial and Agnes obel are.
Duplicate Doh!

Been enjoying the LG album for a while, not really my cup of tea normally but this one hits the spot.
The KEXP (God love 'em!) performance is stunning.
Enjoying Agnes Obel on Spotify right now. Thanks for the recommendation.
I like them to, I found the behind the scenes video to one of their music videos interesting from a photographic point of view.

I saw Agnes Obel live a few yrs back when she first debuted - fantastic live. Must check out her latest work.

Then get hard copy

or in a shop? I am going to try HMV tomorrow
Bought the London Grammar album on the strength of this thread and so far I'm super impressed!
You got me playing them via YouTube onto my TV
Not made my mind up yet, but thanks for the heads up.
Probably the Deluxe version. I have seen a 2xCD format advertised. So I would guess that's it.
I quite like them, though I have heard some of their singles a little too much as they have been played a lot over the year.
Indeed it seems to be the deluxe edition (I'm not complaining!), extra tracks are:
12. "Help"
13. "Darling Are You Gonna Leave Me"
14. "Help Me Lose My Mind" (music by Disclosure)
15. "High Life"
16. "Maybe"
17. "When We Were Young"
Licensing agreements sounds logical as the reason for some being able to access it whilst some cannot.
My Spotify account is Swedish but I'm accessing from Thailand now (if the latter is of relevance, doubt it though).
Good suggestions thanks :)
Checking out agnes on spotify now!
Cheers
Mayy
Just ponied up for London grammar - 1st impressions - very good!
Holy thread resurrection Batman!
Sorry for that but this thread got me listening to LG.
The new album is out and I'm listening to it on Apple music.
If you like the first one pretty certain you'll like this too.
PS. I saw they'd covered Bitter Sweet Symphony and that is a total classic to me so I was worried, but it's really good...
I saw they were back, loved their first album so I will look for the new one. Thanks for the heads up.
Will be giving it a blast on vinyl today. Have tickets to see them later in the year and really looking forward to it, her voice is beautiful and apparently very good live.
Got it , not listened to it much . Waiting for Public Service Broadcasting's latest...and Unkle's newset as well.
A beautiful album indeed, Zero 7 still my favourite though..

Anyone listen to daughter? I think I prefer them to LG.

I know LG get a lot of hype but I'm struggling. I tried If You Wait (much talked about) but I just find her voice very droney :-( However everyone says how brilliant they are so I got their new album under the assumption it must be me. More of the same thing. Just lots of droney long notes with too much echo. A bit like Siouxsi Sioux (and the Banshees).
As previously mentioned Agnes Obel is miles better... she actually has more than just three notes in her voice.
I started to listen to LG after seeing this thread and although there are a few tracks on both albums that I can repeatedly listen to I found overall the music too depressing. Have to admit though the production of both albums is top notch and a listening pleasure for the few tracks I like.
I took the recommendation and really like it.
That's along with the new Roger Waters and Royal Blood albums. It's been a good month!
