What would you keep & what would you sell???

    I am in a very fortunate position of owning a 16600 Sea Dweller - bought 2005, and a 166600 Deep Sea - bought 2010.

I'm also in a very unfortunate position of having to sell one :0(

I need to raise funds, and all other options have been exhausted, so, one watch has to go.

Either of the watches will cover the funds I need, and I know the Deep Sea will raise more cash than the Sea Dweller.

So, which one to keep, which one to sell ???

Keep the one you wear more often.
    Personally I'd keep the 16600

Love the 16600, first Rolex I bought. But, I wear the Deep Sea every day. The sea dweller has been cleaned and stored in its box for 2 years now.

Problem is, I really do like both watches, just for different reasons.

Not gonna be an easy decision.

Deep Sea, as it will get you the most dosh.

Hope you are able to sell at your (relative) leisure and that the potential buyer dont know you need the money.

Keep the 16600, it's as simple as that.

    Hi,

Keep the DSSD and sell the SD, as no doubt you will regret selling either and will be able to fund the replacement quicker.

Keep the DeepSea, originally I wanted a Seadweller but saved a bit of extra cash for the DSSD and have not regretted it.

Only issue is you will get at least £2K more selling the DSSD so depends how much cash you want.

Amount of cash return is not a problem, Sea Dweller will just raise enough cash, DSSD will raise approx £2k more than I actually need. So, either will cover what I need cash wise. The "head" part of the decision is made ie: sell one.

It's the "heart part" of the decision now.

Were it me, I would sell the DSSD, the SD is a classic and it will be easier to replace the DSSD when funds allow.

  12. #12
If you wear the DS every day, sell the SD. Then you get the thrill of the chase when you want to replace it. Simples. :)

I think it's the other way round. The SD will go up more in value to the DS IMHO.

I have both and wouldnt sell - you must have other goods you can sell off instead of appreciating assets?
It's just a matter of time...

    Sell the 16600 and sell/swap the 116660 for a 1665?

That won't work if its a cash raising exercise. Otherwise it's a brainwave

Keep your 16600, when time comes it might not be as easy to replace as you think.

  19. #19
Keep the SD - more flexible in terms of fit (casual, smart, cuffs, suit etc.) and as you progress along life's rich path. While I love the DS, and will I hope one day own one, I can perhaps envisage a time down the line when it doesn't feel quite right, whereas the SD will always be classic .....

Keep the SD. At least the DSSD is still in production if you are able to replace at some stage.

Keep the SD. Or sell it to me.
At least if you sell Deep Sea, you've got a bit of cash to put into something else so your not down a watch.

I would keep the SD, as I consider it the ultimate Rolex sport watch of all time. But I'm not you.

Would love to list one on here, as which ever I sell should go to an enthusiast, but, I need the money before I can build up 250 posts :-(

PS: not a cheeky way to try and sell one. Not looking to flaunt forum rules.

Watch will go on ebay when I'm ready.

What would you keep & what would you sell???

If it was me I would keep the SD which I prefer hugely. BUT if you haven't worn it for 2 years and need the cash then it's silly to keep it. If you wear the DSSD every day, keep it.

Personally I would sell the SD and keep the DSSD as I much prefer it. The SD is probably harder to replace in future but the DSSD is an expensive beast to buy again.

You currently have the choice of either and you choose to wear the DSSD.

    Surely that's your answer ?

And for what's it's worth, I'd be the same, although I'd add a RubberB to the mix.

I would sell the one I wear least, they are both as good as each other, SD is a classic and DSSD is a extremely well engineered beast.

Whilst I appreciate the SD for the classic it is, plus it was my first Rolex, I do wear the DSSD ever day as I love the over sized design, and the engineering behind it.

I would love to keep both, but can't.

OK, mind made up. Thanks for the advice guys.
