All the best wearing it. I am now in the same position as you were. WTB pam 338, but no budget :) Next step is to go down and look for offers.
Hi folks
I'm posting a short review of my Pam Zero, my pics aren’t of the quality of most on here but bear with me :)
I had wanted a Pam for a long time, and decided to finally bite the bullet. My budget only really allowed for a base model, and when a respected member responded to my WTB with a minty 2010 Zero how could i refuse. I wasn’t too hung up on whether i got a zero, a 111 or another variant. To me what was important was that it was hand wound and the luminor case, after that i was happy. I tried the other case with one of eddies italians and i didn’t like the wire lugs, so i was sure the luminor was for me.
Upon arrival i was impressed with the package and presentation, however i was a little less impressed with the OEM calf black strap, i found it hard to get it sized properly and the black did nothing for me. Someone recommended that if it was OEM style without the price tag i was after, to try strap works. €45 and one week later i received a lovely tan strap which felt as well constructed as OEM and also could be fitted with the OEM buckle. It’s also lovely and soft and fits me much better than the stock calf. It has the added bonus of matching most of my tan shoes and belts :D
The watch itself is a big beasty, but wearable with it. I have a 7.25" wrist and it looks perfect on. However for me it’s strictly casual as it doesn’t fit properly under my work shirt cuffs. As a casual watch though it looks great, and of all my watches it is the most admired :)
Things id change? Well a power reserve indicator would be nice, I’m not sure how long i get from a wind but it isn’t 56 hours, but I’m probably too careful with it! Also it not being suitable to wear with a suit is a pain, but i had anticipated that to be fair!
That aside I’m delighted, to me its quintessential Panerai, and the only other one that interests me is maybe a submersible, but for now i am over the moon with this.
So thanks to Eddie for the forum, everyone else for contributing and shadowman for making my Panerai dream a reality :)

That is just what I am trying to save up for. Been selling a couple out of my collection to get the pot started......
I have a power reserve Pam 90 myself but love the simplicity of the base models, they really capture the essence of what Panerai were originally about. I regret selling my Pam 111 last year, and will probably buy another sooner or later. For me, the 111 ticks all the boxes - sandwich dial, subdial second hand and crystal back. Excellent bang for the bucks. Nice choice of watch mate, you will never tire of a Pam, but you will want more....... :D
Excellent photos! 8)
Very nice review!
Nice review, have a pam 90 and pam 292 blackseal, think they are class, you will just want another. :bounce:
Good review - the 000 is definitely on my wish list!
Shame to hear that it struggles with shirt cuffs but I seem to do most of my work in polo shirts at the moment so not a deal breaker!
Nice review, I had a 000 last year and regret the day I sold it.
Interesting, good review
Pams do wear straps well.
One of the nicest Pams out there. I really like the simple look of it
same here, simple clean lines and a lovely strap it suits. congratsOriginally Posted by HansJorgen1968

mate bet your doing or not doing what I did with my 111...winding it fully, after a while the crown starts to spin back on itself so you think it's fully wound but you can wind to it comes to a complete stop, you will get at least 56 hours out of it,if not and it was fully wound then it needs sending back,I'm sure it's just not being wound enough.
love it! a true classic and very nice pics of it!
those are pretty much the only reason I got into 'proper' watches at all. Not that i can afford one anyway but they look so right.
What sort of entry price would i be looking at? There are so many models and th eprices are all over the shop.
simple and classic, looks great. nice choice. :)
Congrulations, nice shots
Lovely watch and a great review. I have one of the first batch of the 005, which was fitted with the 'long arrow' dial, the same as the earlier 195.
One of the best Panerai !

Been looking at Panerai's myself of late so thanks for posting your impressions of your watch. It all helps to build a picture. Cheers.

Good review and a classic
Lovely watch and strap.
thanks for the review, I just got one myself, I think it is one of the best base models! Just wich they would put the luminor sign to the top and just have the logo on the bottom :)
I see there is no ´Reg. TM.´ on the crown protector of this one. Looks a lot better and more sympathetic this way :!:
Great watch! Enjoy it a lot...
Excellent photos and review :)
That is pure class

Yes, and imo it looks a lot worse and less sympathetic that way.Originally Posted by jegger
It is rather silly too on ´historics´ as it is only so since 1998.
It is replacing the patented by Panerai with a trademarked of that by Richemont.
The way I see it, it is conspicuously highlighting the Cartierisation of the brand, which I think is particularly  when stamped on the CG of the homage models.
Nice review, I don't know about the watch....It just doesn't do it for me.
Nice catch!
Cought one myself just a couple of weeks ago.
Mine says hello
thinking that a panerai will be my 40th pressie
