SMP?

Looking for opinions here.
What's the 'best' watch you can get for 1250 on the SC?
I'll leave the definition of best up to you, just list a reason or two.
Cheers

Omega Seamasters are great all-rounders but your question is too open really. There's a TAG Aquaracer on there right now which is a LOT of watch for the money, and I've seen a lot of SINN watches of late that also appear to do a lot for their money.
I meant be vague / open.
Can be anything you want.
Definitely the Breitling Colt that tribe125 has for sale.
Ahem, all joking aside, that particular Colt is a beautiful watch.
I also think that the Sinn Arktis is great value...but so did someone else as I've just noticed its on hold.
Well under your budget the Longines Conquest Heritage looks to me to be a lot of watch for the money,as a lot of the Longines watches tend to be.
What he said MM300,hell of a watch and you'd have change.
This Glycine Lagunare.

Another vote for the MM: that bit of change would help to pay the cost of a service back in Japan when the time came.
And I think a Dreadnought might be had for that budget again now too?
I had the 'old shape' TAG Heuer Aquaracer auto and sold it on Ebay at the end of last year for £650... it was a cracker all the time I had it.
A significant amount of change to be had in your instance too!
And you've got some spare cash to throw at another piece.........
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Longines Legend Diver or Omega Seamaster Professional chronometer
get a seamaster of some description, or the mm if you want to be a bit different
If you'd said £1500 there are many possibilities, equally £1000, but £1250..?
There's only one IMO that fits that value correctly as already suggested and that's a nice condition Omega SMP Co-axial, the later 2220.80.
Speedmaster Pro 3570.50 all day long
EDIT: Oh yeah, you want reasons...
One of the most versatile watches I've ever come across. Great timekeeping from the reliable 1861 hand-wind workhorse, a design with true history, whether you buy in to the NASA thing or not, a design barely changed since 1957 which inspired future tachymeter chronos like the Daytona and the Carrera to name a couple. A watch that can look modern and vintage, all at the same time.
All adds up to a highly desirable package as many members here will testify.

Absolutely, I can't think of a better watch to buy 2nd hand at those prices, sure many nice options can be had but if you bond with a speedy pro then it is the sort of watch you can happily wear and appreciate for a lifetime, one thing is for sure, it will never look dated or go out of 'fashion' or appreciation amongst watch fans!
It is extremely versatile on all straps and many bracelets also. And If for some crazy reason you fall out of love with it you can easily sell it on for the price you paid.
Omegas are boring and "everyone" has one of them.
Get Longines Legend Diver
Very cool piece with retro design, and goes well with different clothing styles. You can wear it with the suit and later to the beach.

Oysterquartz (just about, and not recently)
For that money you've got a fair bit of choice - there's a nice Heuer chrono with the white/grey dialled Lemania 5100 - unusual and practical; there's a Sinn 144GMT Ti - I've handled one of these and it's a lovely piece at a good price, and I'm a fan of Ti, especially in a Chrono. The trouble with the GMT modded Valjoux 7750s, though, is that the GMT hand moves when you reset the hour hand, which makes it fiddly and no good for travel. It's also hard to go past a centre minute chrono layout; so I'd combine most of the best attributes of the other two and settle for this Breitling M1:

The M1 has a Ti case, so it's a comfortable weight despite the bulk; has a centre sweep chrono minute hand, which makes for fantastic at-a-glance legibility; has a quick-set hour hand, which is great for travel; and has pushers which can be used underwater, which is handy for timing and resetting the chrono when it's wet - sailing or swimming, for instance. The SuperQuartz 231.262 movement has great accuracy and the handy feature of being able to reset the chrono to act as a count-down timer.
This particular example has a white dial, which makes a change from everything else I have. Honestly for the money, I think it's pretty much unbeatable. Perhaps it's just as well it's sold; I really would like to get one, one day...
I got this Breitling Steelfish.
If not needed to from SC you can get Longines as brand new with that budget....

Seamaster Pro for me, they have appreciated a bit in the last couple of years, so not as cheap as they used to be but for all round comfort, quality and price can't be beaten, imho.
Another vote for the lld, great looking watch that has the retro cool feel and function perfectly.
I also desperately want one but can't justify it at present, so like a parent living their dreams through their children I'm hoping you'll buy one and I can feel the tiniest amount of satisfaction.
Yet another vote for the MM. But - if one came up - a nice newish Montblanc auto diver/chrono would also tempt me.
