I wasted many, many hours thrashing around the Nürburgring on Gran Turismo 4. And probably just as long shooting people in COD MW2.
Goldeneye
Mario Kart
Command and Conquer: Red Alert.
All have taken up ungodly amounts of my time over the years

Spent hours and hours on this. Me and a friend used to play head to head, him on the joystick, me on the keyboard, in the end we knew all the moves by reflex. Wonderful.Originally Posted by amnesia

So clever my foot fell off.
Showing my age here but the last time I was addicted to a computer game it was Chucky Egg on the Acorn Electron / BBC
Enjoyed Angry Birds recently as a way to fill in time whilst commuting to work :)

Another one I just remembered, Trials HD on X box live arcade 8) The sequel is out today as well
Just found TT Superbikes by Jester games on the PS2. My God, what a game. IOM TT course, down Bray Hill, past houses, garden walls and lamp posts at 170mph.
Civ 4 for me. Played it for years. Civ V was a great disappointment.
GTA Vice City, San Andreas were close.
There were many but 2 arcade ones that stand out for me
Buggy boy (3 screen version)
Out run
Others include, Sega Rally, Gran , Touring cars, Grand Prix
I do like my driving games.... Want one of those race seat setups one day
Weeks wasted playing NHL '93 but then I am a huge hockey fan.
King kong, well, so these guys think.

Metal Slug on Neo Geo !
I have bought Metal Slug X and Metal Slug 5 during my recent trip in Japan and I can play those for hours straight.
Also, I find quite addictive most of the manic shooters games on Sega Saturn and Dreamcast. I feel like disconnecting my brain while playing those
MechWarrior. I was very sorry when they stopped developing that franchise.

They aren't that old but I believe those were the best for 2D arcade games (NeoGeo & Saturn)
Sorry, you are right, not *very* old. I started on a ZX81/Atari 2600, now that is old...but everything moves so quickly these days that 10 years(?) is quite a while in terms of technology. I have not even seen, let alone played any of the things that use motion controller or motion capture technology.
I remember when i was a lot younger sitting in my bedroom in front of my ZX81 manually programming games in from scratch ... and then running them only for them to fail ....
Only just got round to watching the end of King Of Kong and I have to say, Billy 'Bullshit' Mitchell should have had to pay the ultimate penalty for his 'Exploit the mentally challenged' tactics by having his mullet shaved off in the centre aisle of Funspot.
As an aside - I hold the world record score for the arcade/Laserdisc cabinet version of Dragon's Lair. Me and everyone else who finished it (thus gaining the maximum score possible)
Where's my phonecall Guinness? My videotape doesn't even jump! (or exist... but I have 'fans' who can verify the score)
\m/ :D \m/
Billy Mitchell really is an amazing character. He's like a one man gaming equivalent of Spinal Tap.
Not watched this yet but looks like a great gaming documentary : http://www.indiegamethemovie.com/

''Well, maybe they'd like it if I lose. I gotta try losing sometime.''
''I've pointed out to Steve that he's the person he is today because he came under the wrath of Bill Mitchell.''
what an idiot
great documentary

not forgetting the great walter day - ''I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame. I wanted the pretty girls to come up and say, "Hi, I see that you're good at Centipede." hahahaaa
when you look for quotes from the film there are tons of them, absolute belters
mr awesome (not sure if real name) ''I want you to remember that no punk bastard ever got a gnarly piece of poontang by being sensitive and considerate! ''
robert mruczek ''When I have to watch that pile of eight tapes over there for Dwayne Richards' two-day Nibbler performance, that's 48 straight hours of paying attention and making sure he's doing everything correctly.''
and mr awesome again ''Everything would've fell right into place, but he forgot about one thing: About me convincing Steve Wiebe not to be a chump, talking him out of chumpatizing himself. ''
great stuff
