An awesome, step-by-step guide to modding an SKX

Found this brilliant guide which I think will be useful to everyone interested in learning to mod Seiko's:

A nice writeup. But I'd advice against using a toothpick. Fibers may fall off and enter the movement. Use a plastic pin instead. And use a blower to get rid of the dust. Never blow with the mouth.

That was very informative and well explained. Couple of the photos could have been better lit but hey, who am I to complain. Thanks for the post. Got me thinking again about modding and the SKX's are too pricy as a start point. Judging by some of the end results you can really get something special without breaking the bank

Thanks for the link, great and inspiring guide!

Would be cool to at some point wear a watch you've "made" yourself.

Great post, really explained some of the black art clearly.

Fancy trying that at some stage.

A great thread. Makes it all look achievable with the right gear -- the only part that worries me is fitting the hands. I guess that it is very easy to damage the pinion at this point?

That is very tempting. Looks like it also requires the purchase of a lot of cool tools.

Does anyone know where the dial and hands were sourced from? I really fancy having a flieger look watch and would quite like to have a go at this.

Good post though, very thorough for a stills post. I especially like the information for changing the date position.

He does some very nice ones but they seem to be in short supply at the moment. I have messaged him and had a reply. See my post in the watch talk forum.

Still, it's a waiting game for the right bits. I only hope that someone else with the capability can spot this gap in the market.

I'd love to see something like this done in a video on youtube. But this is already very useful.

Thanks for posting. This is really useful as I am contemplating my first tentative step into modding a watch and the SKX007 is crying out to be the one. Thanks again
