I'm a Soul man myself like Otis. 8)
I've got some quartzes and they have their place but they resemble computers too much too me and are a world away from the old time charm of a mechanical.
It's pretty obvious what soul means in this context. Quartz watches have the "assembled by robot" vibe, mechanical ones have the human touch.Originally Posted by Karl

Yep, every working day. B&R Type Professional Demineur
Quartz - I would rather stick burning hot needles in my eye balls. Whats the point of belonging to a watchforum if you wear Quartz, might as well join a Apple forum.
:D

(actually some quartz are quite nice but stangly the really nice one are copies of mechancial watches - so you might as well but the mechanical version - unless you really do need to know the time to nearest 1000th of a second - which I dont.)

I've started to wear quartz much more since I bought my B1 - fantastic watch.

Quartz when travelling or doing some manual labour. Got a few Seikos and Swatches that do the job nicely.

This one for me:
Quartz as a practical beater. Mechanical for dressier occasions.

I have worn some Seikos as they "shine" all night, keep spot on time and last and last and ......... you get the message but I still like my Valjoux' for wrist presence. 7730's and 7750's - great! Just love that freewheel on the 7750 rotor which give the same feeling as revving a V8 at the lights! If you've ever had one, you'll know what i mean!

G-shock at work (medium to heavy engineering environment). SBCM023 at all other times. I have a lot more watches, but since buying that Seiko I don't really want to wear anything else. (well, apart from a SD)
early 90's mid sized seamaster for me mon-thu - no fuss, no hassle, just works.
Personally, not a fan of quartz.
Each to his own though. It's what makes the world tick (or not).

I wear this every day. It's the only "everyday" watch I own.
Oh yes! That's the badger. Let me know if you ever flog it.Originally Posted by ~dadam02~
Count me in, wearing an auto right now but have my several HEQs on a healthy rotation! Don't have an OQ unfortunately!
I don't wear and don't own one now; had a Seiko SBCM023, sold it as I thought I prefered autos but for some reason I now miss it...
I've said it before and I'll say it again —*an appreciation of quartz is a sign of WIS maturity.Originally Posted by Andyg

A few years ago I would never have worn a quarz. Now I can only second the above statement :mrgreen:Originally Posted by Seamaster73
Another thing I never thought I should say; Manuals and quarz can coexist just fine...at least the ones I have :P
i wear a g shock from about 1990 for work every day...still going strong!Originally Posted by Bender
