It be my first made in the UK watch so yes it is a first as well... :x
I have a problem.
When I first join tz-uk it wasn't because of I knew of time factors watch..then after a while I research about how well they were made, I met my first true love a PRS-18A, Eddie confirm with me there be a new batch coming in but not so soon but I am feeling the itch already.
I want my first precista to be special.
I have manage to narrow it down to three choices 50A, SB3 and Precista 300m
And here is my dilemma I have a rather small wrist , a girl's wrist as some of you would call it, 6.5 inch wrist so my question is this to all the precista owner who owned this watches, I am wary the 50A is too big for my wrist then again, I never owned one so I never know that is why I choosed two more just incase, it be my first precista so yes it is a very very important decision.
Any critiques smileys, smugs comments is accepted with a minimum - one sentence of rational answer 8)

Of your chosen 3 I would have thought the SB3 wears the smallest, but I don't think the PRS14 would be an issue either.
I suspect a Speedbird will be the one most suited for a smaller wrist.
It's often useful to compare the lug to lug length of the watch in addition to the diameter, and the Speedbird will be in better proportion for you in this respect.
The PRS-29A would be an excellent choice too. I have a smaller wrist too and generally prefer a 38mm watch, though lately I've crept up to a couple of 40mm ones. The 29a is a 36mm watch and has an excellent movement in it if you don't mind a manual wind. I have a 29b that is the best timekeeper I own! The 29b is 39mm and still very comfortable. It also has an astounding double dome sapphire crystal that mimics an acrylic crystal. You just don't find crystals like that at the 29b's price point! :)
Sorry if I didn't make your decision any easier! LOL :D
Excellent choice that you have narrowed it down to. You can't go wrong with any of them .
They are all pretty special. Don't think you have to get it right first time. If you don't try all 3 how will you know you have made the best choice?
50a is my personal favourite . Don't let the size put you off. Also they are going to sell out soon. Who knows when they will be restocked and at what price??
SB is best all rounder- particularly if you are not stuck on divers watches.
I would say SB3. It's a classic in so many senses.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
It certainly would. However I think Eddie has sold out, so not sure when they would be coming in again.Originally Posted by wainair

The 29A is not a Precista but a Smiths. :wink:Originally Posted by wainair

Every watch a story.
I own both the PRS-14 and SB3 (albeit the GMT version). My wrists are a comparable size, just a touch towards 7". I find the PRS-14 wears slightly narrower than the dimensions would suggest. It is quite a thick watch, but I don't personally consider that a problem even if you have small wrists.
The SB3 bracelet is extremely comfortable and this, plus the fact that it has a sapphire crystal instead of acrylic makes it a better daily wearer for me. That said, you can't really go wrong with either of them though.

I give it a week to review I am inching towards the 14 for no reason, the multi lume on sb3 feels unfamiliar but to one of my mates who have one, it is a refreshing change! so I wander
I just measured my wrist the 50a which i love will love weird on my wrist
29B is out just so I can focus down to two :bom:

Check, thanks for the clarification somonrah! That scratches one off my X-mas list too. :(
For your first TF watch, I think you need to try the SB3/SB3GMT, it is worth it as the bracelet is just brilliant.
Over time I have tried, (in order of buying) SB3, PRS3LE, 18Q and a 17C, The SB3 is the one I wanted to love the most, but I wear my watches fairly loose, and I couldn't get the adjustment correct - but that is just me! The bracelet is very special and I think the SB3 is (to me at least) the defining watch in the TF collection (with maybe the exception being the DN which sold out long before I joined!). The other are really good, it is just that the SB3 is just a bit more special...
I have kept my PRS3LE mostly due to it being a LE, and I like the 1/50 bit, and the 18Q as it is a tough as they come, and I have finally found the correct strap for it (TF Retro rubber), but for a first TF watch, buy a Speedbird III and be done.
I've owned a 50B, have owned - and now have again - a SB3 and have tried the PRS3 (I've also owned a 14).
So, in conclusion, pick the one you like the most - it'll be fine :)

arghhh
so you are saying I should try all and just decide..
well not all can be first, there has to be a significance.
And then there's always the PRS-5...an utterly brilliant chronograph, raesonably priced and the movement looks fantastic through the display case back....
I'm not helping am I?
:banghead:
most certainly not simon, i just reviewed the prs 29A and read some reviews, I am abit put off it is very devilish handsome would look good with a black suit , very yummy.
It is quite ircky to know how quickly the watches sell out though
Eric
Have you tried posting a 'Wanted To Buy'?
I hate to say this but chances of someone pm me is next to zero, I post several WTB and only had two pms on another location to buy them. I am very comfortable with TZ, the trust is low in the other places except the bay to get parts for my vintage seikos
But due to the itch I will post WTB just for the heck of it.
Thanks for the suggestion Simon!
Eric
Agreed Speedbird is a perfectly sized watch!

Dear Chafer,
I have decided on the PRS29A and if so after March or so my birthday month and no one is offering I might Just might go for a SB3 GMT/PRS14 enough cash for both.
Wad of cash is sitting here waiting for the right watch to come for now first!
Thank you for all your kind suggestions
Eric
Hi robert,
Welcome as I am a newbie as well
I see you got your first precista already, well mine is more of a waiting game now..

Hi Eric and Robert, I share your pain!Originally Posted by thepoetboy
My first Precista, a beautiful PRS3-LE is sitting snugly on my wrist as I type, but a new dilemma has emerged.
Christmas is the perfect wife-proof excuse for a new watch, especially as her pressie is a nice gold vintage Omega deVille. So after much www surfing and several changes of mind, I was literally minutes away from pulling the trigger on a Boschett Cave Dweller S.
Then Eddie's announcement about an announcement (or three) was posted and my imagination ran riot. A Dreadnought GMT for xmas, could it be? Well who knows, but all watch cash is now back in the jar until Mr Platts spills the beans!
:bounce:
The PRS 14Q was my first precista and i love it!
shiver me timbers!
you put the pain abit more each day with that beautiful watch
Well, after nearly ordering a Boschett Cave Dweller S for my xmas watch, but then deciding to check out the Smith's Everest first, I've made my decision... ... ... ... I've ordered a PRS-14, my second Precista! :reindeer:
Nothing if not decisive, probably.
