Rolex 6263 on eBay -- Expert Opinions?

This dealer is in Atlanta, so I saw this one "in the metal" a few days ago -- http://www.ebay.com/itm/330627890417

Looked like a high price version of the Heuer Autavia, Ref 2446, in the second execution case.

I'm curious to see what the experts think if it, in terms of authenticity, market price, etc.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

The movement looks ok, but would have to dig out my Daytona book to be sure. Dial and bezel also look good.

The trouble with these is that you're paying quite a lot for a (very good version of) a common movement. A heuer, Girard Perregaux, or le coultre version would be much cheaper. 10x cheaper maybe. But the Rolex is very desirable.

Not an everyday watch. Hand wind and screw down crown makes it a pain. Umm, not that I own the rolex, but I have a v72 watch with a screw down crown.

£20k is probably about right, too.

Would agree with the take on this piece as above. Up to a point.

Yes you are paying for what would basically be a common movement (albeit a 727 which is better finished, higher beat, and more accurate than the 72, being chronometer worthy) but then an AC Cobra has a big whacking ford v8 engine in it and is worth a fortune.....put it in a classic mustang and it's reasonable money, put it in a cobra and x20 your money, it does not have much to do with the price of fish really IMO. It is what it is.

Interesting you mention a GP - I've recently got a V72 engined GP with what I think is a more attractive dial and not the impractical winder for a 1/20th price of a daytona like this. But Daytona it ain't  but I agree the real thing is a pain in the @rse and mine doesn't see the light of day too often.

Serial no dates to 79 as the advert says and clasp 81 ish maybe (only one date letter?). But I am no clasp expert. Dial and hands show a little corrosion I think, there is a little on the movement too, could do with a cleanup. Looks like a proper 727 to me. Hope this helps.
