Bought, sold, bought again. Grand Seiko content.

Thanks to the craziness to which some of us subscribe I've just had an interesting month with my GS SBGX061 arriving new from Japan, being sold on SC partly because I found myself unable to wear it in case I dinked it  then immediately regretting selling it.

Fortunately Eliot who bought it is a gent and was true to his word that he'd sell it back to me if he ever flipped it. So cheers Eliot, and thanks also to your unnaturally massive wrists   I've also managed to sell my DSSD and will soon send off the 233 so I think I can justify keeping this now.

I've done this twice before - with the DSSD last year and with my MM600 Spring Drive. The former has just gone again and the latter is still being enjoyed (but is on a promise to go back to Burnsey if/when it goes anywhere.) I'm sure I'm not the only one to have done this - Chinnock's lovely 16660 being another I've seen today....

So anyway, rejoining its Seiko mates in my watchbox (the Astron reissue and the MM600) is my GS quartz :)

That really is a lovely watch, I can see why you got it back as soon as the opportunity presented itself. I'm lusting after something simple and clean like this, sadly funds are low right now and I don't want to sell or trade anything in the box, so it's still wishful thinking for the time-being!

Lovely watch - I can see why you wanted it back. I was sooo tempted when it was on SC!

37mm, but the dial is bigger than my SD's.

It's a very comfy watch and the bracelet is beautifully solid, quality :)

Good man. If I ever sold my GS no doubt I'd be on the phone to Higuchi the next day.

I tried one of these on last week and it is pure class. Small in dimension but it has real presence and the finish is truly stunning.

If I were you I'd keep hold of this one.

I love the GS, do they do an automatic or manual which is that simple in design?
Recently it seems they have been getting more fussy

Regarding the autos with the same design cues, yes - there are a couple of beauties in the GS lineup but they aren't cheap. Jura have a few on their site. They are the only UK dealers and will not entertain haggling on their GS lines, and don't have everything on their website in stock. I was quoted a 3 month lead time on mine, for instance.

I still haven't been round there to check them out (perhaps I am too scared). I might do it around Xmas time. The SD snowflake is hassling me.
