Wow. Brilliant job looks almost brand new especially the bracelet.
It's not often that I feel compelled to post a thread.. But I just picked up my dads datejust from Hamilton and inches where it had been sent to rolex for a service.
It's been away for about 18 weeks.
It's an e serial.. Never been serviced in it's life.. And honestly.. He had it in a really appalling state as it's been his daily wearer since new.. He's a civil engineer and it's lived through the dirt and grime of Bangladesh, Taiwan, Dubai, Bahrain, India, and has now been retired to gardening duties in France. I don't think he has even bothered to give it a decent scrub in it's lifetime.
It was bogging and well and truly wabi'd to the point where the clasp pinged open at the first touch (his solution was Sellotape)
I had to have a battle at him to get it done.. He didn't really want to as he reckons it has lost about 5 seconds per week steadily over it's lifetime.
Anyway.
It's back and I'm made up at the refurb.. So took some crappy iPhone pics to share.
Wow. Brilliant job looks almost brand new especially the bracelet.
Outstanding. Don't let him have it back!
Yeah.. The only part they changed was the sapphire.. Which had chunks out of the edges from where it had been battered against "stuff".. Really good going on their part to get it back to that tbh.
great work! thanks for sharing!
Looks great!
That's really nice :)
I've been thinking about getting one of these but for some reason I see them as an 'old man's' watch :?
I hope your dad's pleased with the results.
I know what you mean about the old mans aspect.
that said.. I had the compulsory try on and I think if I wear it loose I can get away with it :)
I'll maybe ask him if he wants to loan it to me to wear as I'm babysitting it til I take it over to him in dec.
Looks amazing, apart from the slight stretch in the bracelet it looks new!
That looks fantastic, it never ceases to amaze me how good the DJ's look after a service. A timeless classic.
Oh, and I agree with the other poster...don't give it back :D
Crisp!
Great story and the results are simply stunning! Rolex really do know how to service their watches and I would love to know what his reaction was/will be when he sees it.
Enjoy
Astonishing results no doubt worth every penny. :)
I bet when you give it back, you will get some typical dad type comment like 'Oh thanks boy, gonna have to spend another thirty years wearing that in now', although he will be secretly chuffed to bits.
Good job - I bet he'll be made up

515 Inc a new sapphire.
That's definitely too much. :DOriginally Posted by baldspot
Nice, plus you seem to have a very tame cat! ;-)
Rolex have done a fantastic job.
Like new for £515 :DOriginally Posted by verv
What was his reaction?
A service or a new one ? :shock:Originally Posted by baldspot
That's crazy to quote that much.
Awesome looking £515 bargain price.....
Do you have a before pic?
Looks as new
£4,000!!! What are they going to do to it?Originally Posted by baldspot
no before pic.. I didn't think to take one.
he's not getting it back til December so won't see it til then.. his response to the pics was that he was only gonna wear it for proper occasions from now on.
That is stunning, it looks like new. You are going to have to sit him down give him instructions before handing it back.
It does look really good. I'm increasingly drawn to Rolexes like that.
regards,
Nick
Great to see what they can do looks fantastic
Don't think we dare use/abuse them like they used too, to much a luxury item now!
It should be worn on every occasion!
I thought £4000 was a tad excessive!
it's an 18 carat gold Oyster perpetual day date and I think he paid around £18000 for that and ladies 18 carat gold rolex for my mum (not sure which model).
Needless to say, he didn't take them up on the offer!
H&I are good guys. They know how to treat customers and make the buying experience memorable - as it should be.
And their silver is amazing. Great looking shop - I hope they stay there for another century and more.
And your dad's dj looks great. Amazing dial....I bet I could stare at the dial for ages in sunlight. I'd move it around so that it catches the light in different places and looks different with every move
fantastic result, perhaps you should get your dad a g shock and tuck that away for yourself.
