Congratulations on a couple of nice vintage Seikos. Would be great to see some photos after the service as well. I was born at a similar time and am yet to do the birth watch thing, prehaps one of these would be a good bet...
Another listing at the bay with poor pictures and short description, but the seller was very friendly and answered every questions best he could. I've been on the hunt for a birth year Seiko Diver for some time now, so I pulled the trigger and frankly said, I guess I was lucky :D
Please welcome my birth year watch: Seiko 6105-8119 from 1975 :thumbright:
...and next to its relumed brother Seiko 6105-8110 from 1974....
To me it looks all original, but what do I know... the crystal is scratched but the dial and hands still look ok without any sign of discoloration. The bezel rotates and the crown locks as it should. According to the seller it keeps reasonable time. I am wearing it now for 4 hours and till now I am very pleased... However, the movement would benefit from a service so I think I am going to replace the crystal as well...
The seller listed another watch for sale and while I was playing around with my sniping software I accidently won the auction as well![]()
Another Seiko 6309-7040 from 1979 on its vintage rubber strap :D
Beautiful watch in very nice condition, although the bezel is stiff and does not rotate.. but I hope this will be a simple fix...
Thanks for reading...

Great find, I'd love to get a birth year watch, I hear sundials are easy enough to find.
A great choice, I had one one from 76 and do miss it :(

Some real wabi my man..... 8)
All original birth year 6105? Doesn't get much better than that. Nice one!
Really nice, and you have inspired me to get a birth year watch for my 40th. Can I ask on how or where you search for a Seiko from a specific year, ie 1971 ?
The question is: Which one of you is in the best shape...? :D
Thank you all for the kind words. I've been wearing both of them today () for a couple of hours and they both kept time so far... lucky me :D
Form an orderly queue please... :D At least you are 2nd in the queue...Originally Posted by Robertf

However, I wanted a birth year 6105 so badly and prices have gone through the roof recently, so... I've made worse deals
If you are looking for a Seiko diver then the 6105-811x would be your choice. They've been produced from 1970 till early 1977. The first two digits (left to right) of the serial number (on the caseback) tell you year and month of production...Originally Posted by The Hat
I would call it a draw... :DOriginally Posted by Naith
Cheers Mario. I'd the 811x expensive and hard to find ?

:D Nice choice for birth year, looks like a service and a new glass will make it a very good example.
Very nice, the 6105 seikos will probably be going up in price since the recent ebay sales, so a good investment too!!
Hope you enjoy it, it looks like a nice example..
It is now and no.Originally Posted by The Hat
There are still many 6105-811x divers out there. Prices for good or better examples have gone through the roof recently. I would rate mine as average and workable, but I can live with wabi and dink's and I got it for a very fair price imho. It took me some time to find my birthyear 6105, but for me it is all about the search and the moment when I open the package :DOriginally Posted by The Hat
I am very pleased with my latest find. It still holds very reasonable time and just looks so cool with its scratches and dink's on a used nato strap 8)
The scratched crystal is hiding the slightly wabi'd hands very well, isn't it :D
Congrats on a nice set of Seikos :)
