Would one of Eddies PRS18 bezels fit it ?
Here's something from my crap box in the cupboard (not really crap just non runners, watches with issues etc)
A Royal navy issued Precista from 1982. Sadly missing its original bezel.
It runs but stop and starts and won't hand wind so definitely needs a service. The dial and hands are really nice. The asymmetrical case is pretty cool too.
I am not a milwatch bod and have very little interest in them even though I have owned quite a few for one reason or another so......
Now the questions.
Anywhere I can get a replacement bezel?
Before I put any money into it getting it serviced, what are the value of these, with and without  bezel?
I reckon they are reasonably rare as I have not seen one before.
Cheers,
Neil.

I don't know, I would love to find out.Originally Posted by WORKSIMON
I guess it is just an interference fit with a bidirectional bezel movement as I haven't noticed any spring fittings.
Unless anyone knows better?

The bezel of the PRS-18 is the wrong kind of bezel for this watch.Originally Posted by WORKSIMON

Thanks for the links John.
I realised the watch was rare as I've never seen one but not as rare as that!
Some interesting stuff to mull over.
Cheers,
Neil.
In the link below you will find the statement that only 200 were ever made in '82 and of those only 5 have been seen ... I suggest that now is not the right to rid of it. Get the novement cleaned and oiled and an extremely sympathetic clean up of the case and moth ball until something turns with the bezel ... or ... whatever. I feel you have a bit of history there.Originally Posted by Neil.C

Thanks again John.
Only 5 seen?
It will be six now!
I am going to get my watchy to overhaul the movement, so I'll see it in about a year!

Neil.
Well, I've only seen about 5, maybe others have seen more but I doubt if anyone has seen much more than that.

Neil,
I can update you a little on this model. I've recorded issue numbers of 13 so far and have images of another 5 from magazines/ internet but until I've seen the case backs I don't count these in the tally. Total number issued may have been around 250 based on a spread of 235 issue numbers sighted so far. Non-hacking ETA 2783 in either 21J or 25J configurations.
The bezel is the weak link, it protrudes beyond the case at the 9 marker and any little knock will spring the bezel off. If it happens underwater, its gone forever. I know of 3, including yours with missing bezels, I'm still looking for one myself. My gut feel is they were a rush buy around the Falklands era as RN divers watches were moved to the South Atlantic. The '80 and '81 CWC auto's were also made in small numbers and the '83 CWC Quartz had not come into being yet so it was probably a stop gap buy. They are a nice size to wear, but not a patch on a CWC as a tool watch IMHO.

I bow to Terry on the numbers, he is always much more methodical keeping track than I am but I wasn't too far off. A rare watch by any measure.
