Very pleased for her, but also worried because of all the lunatics on the roads...:(

I'd definitely recommend the pass plus scheme - extra ££ - but made me a much better driver, motorways, night driving etc etc. Not always necessary to do with same instrucutor either.
Congrats!
She'll be fine, you drive on the left side, much safer IMHO :)
Cheers,
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
My son was quoted £4,000!Originally Posted by redmonaco

It's great when they pass 1st time. Girls are statistically much safer than boys and the insurance costs reflect this.
My step-daughter got a good deal with Admiral; they do a good discount for 2 cars (hers & her mums, I keep out of it).
might be worth a try

Want to make her a far, far better driver?Originally Posted by redmonaco
Get her to ride a motorcycle (not a scooter) for a year or two.
It's quite a different experience when it's your brain rather than a steel cage to protect you. Being a motorcycle rider makes you a significantly better car driver. You learn where to look and what to look for. You suspect every bar steward of being a maniac and take appropriate measures; i.e. you learn to second guess every other bar steward on the road. Survival instinct kicks in.
It certainly does. I rode bikes in all weathers for years, including two years as a dispatch rider in London before taking my car driving test.Originally Posted by DeusIrae

I thankfully have at least 16 more years before my eldest sits her test.
My middle son has been a biker for a good few years and everybody is frightened to get into a car with him. It's horrific! :lol:Originally Posted by DeusIrae

Interesting topic this - we get a lot of accident data at work, and various reports have been released with national accident statistics in them.Originally Posted by walkerwek1958
In summary:
- Men have fewer, more serious accidents (ie high-speed, motorway, usually total loss)
- Women have more, less serious accidents (ie pulling out on people, parking prangs, usually minor claims)
- 90% of motorway miles are driven by men
- 75% of other miles are driven by men
Just thought you might find that interesting!
Oh, and congratulations to your daughter on passing first time (although all the best pass second time  )
