Thread: Good value, high quality straps?

    Good value, high quality straps?

    Hi guys -

I need to get a couple of new (leather) straps for existing and incoming watches - previously I've always bought Hirsh straps from the bay as they seem quite good. But am I missing out on some high quality straps at a decent price? Any suggestions for something better than Hirsch in terms of price/quality trade-off?

On a side note, can anyone point me to somewhere where it shows how a NATO strap should be properly fitted and worn?

    Thanks!

    BG.

    Hi Andy -
    What's your price point?
Well, I guess in the region of €40 or thereabouts. Money is an object :)
Cheaper would be fine, as would slightly pricier for something special.

eddies aviator straps are in the same league as the hirsch liberty etc imho and about half the price.
di modell chronissimo is a very nice strap .
or get a toshi off sc, they crop up every now and then.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

I think Hirsch are pretty good VFM.

Others worth looking at in the up to £30 ball park include Di-Modell,RIOS Juchten the Don Ginsler Panerai style straps and as suggested already a used Toshi is a good option.

Hard to beat a Toshi and if you can get a used one, even better - IMO anyway.

I have recently bought 2 straps from Steve Lambert @ Steveostraps and his work is quality and his prices are also very reasonable. Check out his website which is linked to Carl's @ gasgasbones.

Surprised Steveo doesn't get more of a mention. I just ordered this bund, custom made, specified size and stitch-work etc. All for £25, ordered on the Friday wearing it on Tuesday. The quality is excellent and nice thick soft leather. Communication is top, you even get an approval picture. Give him a shout if you need a strap > http://www.steveostraps.com/

+1 for "stretching to a Toshi" - I have 6 or 7 and they are all fabulous.
If not, Ken at Watchworx is great to deal with and his straps are good value

Any opinions on Camille Fournet? I ordered one from watchstyle.com recently (a brown Chatelet to be precise). It hasn't arrived yet, but they look quite nice in the pics at least.

Condor, made in India, are similar to Hirsch, made in Austria, but cost less.

I put a Condor teju lizard on an Audemars Piguet and the watch sold in seconds. I think the strap sold the watch.
