The wife's Mondaine has a problem. It randomly stops.
On a quartz watch, generally, if the "winding" stem is pulled out, the watch stops. I don't know if there is a switch which disconnects the battery or if its just a mechanical brake.
When this watch stops, it can be started again by pulling out the "winding" stem and pushing it back in and jiggling it around a bit. But after some time from a few minutes to a few days it stops again. The battery was replaced but made no difference.
Am I right in thinking the switch or brake has failed? It's about 12 years old. Does it need a new movement? They are about £20.
Can anyone recommend someone who repairs quartz? Any help with this would be much appreciated.
