I like #3. Smart yet sporty.
Ok, so my buddy popped the question if I would be his best man at the wedding in May. I was really happy and now I'm already preparing gift ideas. What I planned (here in this part of Europe it's almost mandatory to give money + presents) was to give him money (as for the couple - since they're starting their life together) + a nice watch to him for memory to that day.
Now..
My watch budget should be around $300-$350 while I plan ordering from the States and the prices there are around 50% (up to 100%) lower than here in EU.. What I'm looking for - I don't know. I just wish he wears it here and there as a memory (and not to be ashamed of it).
I was planning of Tissot LeLocle automatic since it's one of the best looking dress watches around for that kind of money. Or perhaps something big fat and chunky (say seiko samurai / sumo)
I wouldn't certainly buy him something I wouldn't consider wearing if I bought it to myself.
What are your ideas?

And I really love this one:

Yep, I think so too.Originally Posted by Glamdring

I guess it will be one in the Tissot lineup, just don't know which.. But hey, I have 5 more months to think about it.. 8)
Seiko auto of one persuasion or another. Robbie
I have read that traditionally you pay for the honeymoon

Trust me, anyone receiving one of these (regardless of whether they are into Watches or not) is gonna love it.

A watch for him and this for both is what I meant (sans the girl.. Or perhaps with a girl.. hmm)

Not a model I've seen before but that is one great looking watch :)

Why not support your watch purveyor (have to double your budget) and buy a very nice Precista ITALIAN - PRS-20 - £365.00???????
Just a thought and GOOD LUCK to bride & groom and with your search!
Why the square Le Locle? The round one should be about the same price and IMO would probably suit more tastes than the square one:
Or for something rather classic, these are about $1k USD at retail prices, should probably work out better in GBP (the entire current Longines lineup does at present exchange) and then hopefully you can negotiate a discount? Has the nice 2892 movement in it.
If you think he'll wear it on the day and thus seek to imbue some sentimental value, then definitely think classic. I understand some choose not to wear watches to formal events, if they're the traditional type.
Number 3 is very stylish - and could be worn for the reception.
I'm best man for my best mate in August - thought about a Thomas the Tank engine watch for him.... LOL.

the Tissot Couturier is the best of the three for me
Amazingly Im also getting married in May and Ive only 'mentioned' the best man thing to my brother rather than officially asked him! Its the beginning of May and I like all of the watches above!
Sorry, just a thought!

Number 3 would be my preference.
Stowa Antea? A little bit above the price point but looks great for the special occasion.

Erm..
This is all wrong gents. Best Men do not buy gifts for the groom, the groom buys a gift for the best man. The best man's 'gift' is to organise a stag night and to deliver the groom to the church on time (or historically - to marry the bride if the groom got cold feet on the day!)
Seriously though - don't buy him a watch. Wives often buy their new husbands watches as wedding presents (and no offence - but would probably splash a lot more on one) so your watch would never get worn for fear of a brow beating. However, all this research is not in vane ... tell him his thankyou to you would eb one of the watches you've looked at :)
Agree again - If you feel the need to buy him something - get a really nice pair of cufflinks.Originally Posted by GregR
