A racing machine on my wrist - Pictures Added

Richard Mille is a brand that I have heard good things about, seen the pictures, even seen them in a AD, but never handled one. To be honest I couldnt see what all the fuss was about, a few weeks ago I met up with another WIS who was wearing an RM005. It was stunning on, and after trying it myself I was hooked. I was in the fortunate position to be able to move a couple of my pieces to raise the funds for this - thanks eddie + tz-uk!

I liked it when I first saw it and I like it ever more so now. The retail price on it is ridiculous and I am not going to attempt to justify it. But it is cool and I like it, it has 3 layers of sapphire crystal, double AR coated. The outside crystal, crystal dial, and crystal date wheel. As well as a display back where the rotor with variable inertia is visible. You can see the movement clearly and right through the watch in places. They are made by Audemars Piguet so the finish is great, and it fits under a cuff!

    Heres a Q&D

    Big congrats.

I've got to say I'm warming to these of late although it's somewhat academic from a price perspective.

A really interesting watch the RM005.
It does wear surprisingly well. Out of reach for most of us, but it is good to have one on the forum and get owner's feedback, instead of "catalog prejudice"

Would be nice if you could take some better pics (lots of) and give us a small review :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :drunken:

    Very interesting oiece.
It has a real technical/industrial sort of look, and looks certainly very well made.
Any chance of a movement pic?

    Cheers,

Jeez Oli that is a serious bit of kit. I'm humbled that you're still mixing with the likes of us now that you're sporting something like that.

I think it looks awsome, and I like what they've done for the date.

Congratulations. Sometime you need to give us an update of your latest stable'.... I can't remember whether it was 3 or 6 that you wanted as your stable.

Re: A racing machine on my wrist

I have had to sell quite a few nice pieces to buy this. Including an ROC, and either a ROO Scuba or a Panerai 233 depending on which sells first. I am also selling a Graham Swordfish, My GP Evo3 and a Zenith Defy classic to balance the books this was quite the "investment". I am trying to get down to 3 watches, I am sure I will get there. Heres a few more shots of it I got taken, it looks much better in person!

Superb looking watch but I suspect they are more expensive than and expensive thing then it is really expensive! Looks like a really well made watch though!

Stunning watch! Huge congrats! I love so much about this and the attention to detail looks superb - I especially like the way even the numerals are pared down to the bare minimum to leave as much of the movement exposed as possible. Even the case screws suit the overall look so well! :tongue9:

Now that sir is a great watch. I love everything about it...except, personally, I'm not sure about look of the floating dial.
Christ! just googled it, a bit out of my price range anyway!

    Enjoy it!

Wow, what a piece of workmanship. Being a n00b I hadn't come across and Richard Mille watches before, looking at the prices this is as close as I will ever get too!

Like yourself, Oli, I'd never really understood the appeal of these before.

Looking at those excellent photos has enlightened me, though!

    Very cool watch- congratulations!

P.S. Any chance you could get the bolts on the case perfectly aligned? ;)

Pure class, congrats. What I love is the uniquness - there is just nothing else out there like RMs, though I prefer the titanium models. Maybe one day.....

must admit that i really didnt like this brand (no good reason) but then i felt the same about Panerai and now own one of theres so things change and the same applies to your watch. Ive noticed me spending longer looking at photos of them recently (always a bad sign) but luckily (now there a thing!) a big tax bill arrived this month so i cant indulge! This is a cracking looking machine, well done!

Monster watch - monster price tag - I like it - which is rare given its a modern watch.

    Big thumbs up from me.

There is a interview with RM in this months QP if you get the chance. Quite a good read.

Not my kind of watch really, but very very very nicely put together. A pleasure to look at in real life, I imagine.

A Richard Mille is next on my list! I hope to get an RM010 in white gold soon, second-hand. Amazing watches, but unfortunately way too expensive in most cases. Would love to get the RM011, but that's definitely out of my price range, even second-hand. If I get the Rm010, I'll post some pictures. Wear yours in good health,

    Paul

Funny, first came across Richard Mille yesterday (yes, I'm a noob!), and this is the watch I saw. I must say your photos are much better, and it is a beautifull watch indeed. Hope you enjoy it (hard not to, I guess!)

The notches on the Rotor can make it heavier or lighter at the edge which affects how much it winds. If you wear the watch for only a few hours a day moving the weights closer to the edge would wind the watch quicker, if that makes sense.
