My daughter just shouts.....
"Mum - dad's got another watch"............
I was always interested in My fathers small selection of issued watches etc. He would let me play with them and "wear" them in the house.
How do you share your interest with your children etc. Do they show signs of been interested etc
thanks

My little one has always been like a magpie. He has just started saying clock..
My youngest does EXACTLY the same. When I bought my Omega I made the big mistake of taking her with me - it cost me big in the Apple shop - I had to buy her off with and iphone upgrade! :shock:Originally Posted by Chris_in_the_UK

PS I am just waiting for one of the kids to spot that my PRS-20 and PAM 177 are actually 2 different watches and not the same one. Not sure how I'm going to wriggle out of that one!
My oldest boy just asks which one will you leave me when you pop your clogs. Cheeky get

''Oh yes - on that watch website again eh?
OR '' Fiddling with your watches again eh?''
Makes me feel a complete idiot
my litle fella loves watches, he is only 2 and we can spend hours sitting playing with them. he points at the one he wants to try on and says "a watttcchhh" i give it to him he puts it next to his ear to hear it ticking away and the puts it next to his wrist and goes "wooooow" then after he has showed everyone in the room it he hands me it back, and choses himself another. his favorite is my rolex gmt2, that maybee because he used to use it as a teething ring.
hear he is helping me get some scratches out of a watch bracelet
cheers
chris.
Yep this is my problem  Dont you just love emOriginally Posted by Chris_in_the_UK
Yep, son (12) is starting to be very interested in watches. Daughter (15) more interested in 'watch as fashion accessory' as you might imagine, but not really interested in my watches.
My kids just look at the laptop rolltheir eyes and trot off
My kids are too young to ask about my watches - but my youngest is three and constantly wears a Disney Watch.
Just like their dad then!!Originally Posted by Shakir Khaja

My daughter is 2.5 and is quite taken with playing with the bezel on any watch I'm wearing and trying to turn it. She's also quite keen on wearing Daddy's watches from time to time, but that's mostly the G-Shocks.

My son (8 now) has been interested for several years. He has 3 watches now (teacher confiscated one last year and "lost" it  ) - two were gifts from me and one he bought himself with his own money. :D
He looks at watches with me form time to time, asks good questions, and currently wants his own auto (which would be a first) because he likes watching the movement through the caseback on some of mine.
My daughter (who is 6) just wants them to be pretty and match her clothes
I get, where's dad, "on t zeeeeee" "well tell him he better not buy another bloody watch".but he does take an intrest and loves breitlings.my older girl just thinks I'm weird.
My daughter sides with her mother and gives me endless grief about buying too many watches. She has a couple herself, but mainly interested in them as jewellery. She did nick an old Vostok off me at one point, but I think mainly because it went with her earrings...

Yes, thats why i got a 2nd Bubble, as my daughter loves it. She has a barbie watch and my son a star wars watch
My lot all appreciate watches (bought up surrounded by them) but not enough to go on any watch forum which they think is weird.
My eldest Tag wearing son calls my vintage collection "old mans watches"
Middle one a keen diver wears a Seiko 007 I gave him but shows a lot of interest in my SD.
Youngest wears an old Seiko quartz I gave him.
They certainly know about most makes and models and know what they want.
They are probably a bit older than the infants many of you are talking about.
Cheers,
Neil.
I've planted the seed of interest with my two young children by buying them used watches from flea markets. I've come across small boxes full of cheap, plastic watches. Most are rubbish, but occassionally I find a gem. Its great for them because they can do what ever to them. But the main thing is that they start enjoying the experience of playing with and wearing a watch. My grandfather did the same with me. He had a "junk drawer" full of watches. I spent hours going thru the pile, tinkering and such. It fueled my interest and now I can see it happening with my daughters (I pity their husbands  ).
I caught my 3yo son proudly walking round the house wearing my Rolex SD recently. I keep thinking what will be his first watch and when should I buy it. I seem to recall that my parents gave me a Timex and I really treasured it. It's in a box 'somewhere' now and I really wish that I could find it.
Cheers,
DeryckT
PS
I keep meaning to make a proper introductory post with pics....one day I'll get round to it. :(
My teenage son has certainly taken an interest and had worn an assortment of my watches (Citizen Tough, G10, Rolex Date and Seiko orange diver) all over the world on his gap year and other travels - cycling the Coast to Coast path, climbing Kilimanjaro, white water rafting, bunjy jumping, off-piste skiiing, teaching in Africa, snorkelling etc etc.
None has missed a beat and all are now his!
My daughter is less interested.
The 30 children I teach every day occasionally comment, but are probably too polite (?!) to say much.
they dont l?ke my new watches
My two year old son loves all mine and shows a real interest - especially the orange ones - which he desribes as "Onner ones". He does have a habit of pulling them down off the side and wearing them, which obviously isn't ideal! (The mrs uses this as rationale as to why I should tidy up!).
He too likes listening to the ticking, so struggles a bit with some of the autos!
He has a sub LV put away from his birth date - so I hope he likes watches as that will be his 18th birthday present :)
Three daughters - my middle daughter is the smallest, most dainty and petite. Yet a real tomboy and loves watches, especailly mens sports watches.
Wait until thay get a bit older and it will be your wallit that intrests them not your watches
I had the problem the other way round. I bought my son a Citizen for his 18th birthday, then decided I wanted the same watch!
The moment I bought my speedy my 12 year old showed an interest. Naturally, I immediately bought him one just like mine.
Well, not quite. We went into town and I let him cruise around the inexpensive jeweler shops. He admitted that it was very difficult to make a choice and that there were advantages and disadvantages in all of the ones which he liked. It was a very important and decent bonding experience between father and son. In the end he decided upon a Sekonda titanium. It's in a different league to what is on this forum but that isn't the point as far as I'm concerned - he has started a journey and has come to realise that, as with many things in life, the answer isn't always black and white.

My oldest son (seven years old) has already began his own collection. He actually has 3 watches :
- A spy watch with a light allowing to read invisible messages,
- A Ben Ten watch (with Ben Ten monsters inside),
- A Power Rangers watch (allowing immediate transformation into Power Rangers according to the notice)
And he really don't care about mine,
Regards, Nicolas

My one year old gets fascinated by the Orange monster lume when I'm trying to put him to bed. Just like me....
My 9 months old daughter do not go to bed at night unless I give her my TISSOT watch to play with it, she seems fascinated and very happy with it.
