tudor 7928 arrival and clean up

so an old 7928 arrived and needed a clean up

so took the bezel and spring off, and a lot of crap came out from underneath  spent a while with a screwdriver and pegwood getting this out

then it was back off clean up the case back and clean around the movement again with pegwood and some rodico putty

next it was onto the crystal, it was badly scratched in places, not too bad for a 1965 watch though.

    out comes the polywatch

clean up the mess, pop the spring and bezel back on, add some new springbars and a nato to match the tritium colour and hey presto!

    wrist shot!

i wanted to leave the insert as it was, dont want a brand new shiny one, however i will source a tritium pearl to put in which will make it look even better IMO.

    cheers

Now the subject matter of this post might even appeal to both sides of the recent Rolex debates!

One things for sure, that watch sure wasn't no "safe queen"!!

I can't believe the amount of crap that came out from behind that bezel.....that Saxon jewellery some fella dug up last week was in cleaner condition!!!

Interesting post on a great looking watch I know next to nothing about... (Web search begins!)

Looks lovely Mike. I personally like to see wabi on older tool watches like this, so I think you've got the balance just right. 1965 is my birth year too, now if only I could find and then afford a lovely watch like this.

    Cheers,

    Gary

Great job! Not sure I'd trust myself just yet to do something like that but the difference is remarkable! Well done.
