I'm absolutely amazed and incredibly impressed.

What an astonishing achievement. I can't even begin to think of doing this.
So clever my foot fell off.
Incredibly impressive I have the utmost respect for him
Very impressive indeed, shows real character!
"I looked with pity not untinged with scorn upon these trivial-minded passers-by"
  hero indeed, wonder if he wore heels for any of them :D
cheers
mike
Quite something, and a great, great comedian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv5iEK-IEzw
How random... didn't even know he was doing anything!!
Good on him :)
How incredible and with so little training!
Wow! what an achievement, had no idea he was doing this.Cake,Death,or... Marathon?
Now thats impressive, especially for a fat, old tranny...
...puts to shame any so called "impresive feats" by that lottery loser Derren brown
Tis amazing for him I expect.

GOT...TO...KILL...CAPTAIN STUPID!

Ralph Waldo Emerson: We ask for long life, but 'tis deep life, or noble moments that signify. Let the measure of time be spiritual, not mechanical.
saw him at harrogate theatre couple of months ago....def looked like little fat poof.....maybe my eyes need checking.
He's not someone I've ever found funny but this is hugely impressive - a great feat of endurance by any standards.
That's practically unbelieveable.
What a guy. 8)
Wow...Thats some achievement, well done Eddie Izzard. :salute:
I spoke to someone I know, His opinion was Eddie did something that 99% of Paratroopers/ Marines etc could NOT do. Eddie has raised the level by some margin .
Good for him...
wow, a fantastic ahievement. Welldone to him.
Top.
Well personally I think it's just selfish... now if I tell anyone that I've run a marathon they'll just point out that Eddie's run dozens and he's a fat tranny (c)...
Not fair at all...
Definite hero! Every half marathon I've done I've not wanted to move again for a week! ...Maybe I should sponsor him. After all, I sponsored Chris Moyles for sauntering up a hill!
David
The man is a star. :)
Well done, Eddie.
I knew nothing about this, what a thing he has achieved!!
saw this at the start what an incredible feat, only 5 weeks training apparently, saw him running down halifax road in sheffield about 10days ago, looked very sore from the way he was running. not really a fan but seriously wow!
Fantastic achievement :)
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
He was on our local news being interviewed at the road side while eating an icecream :D
A fat guy running a marathon every day with only a few weeks training  I wonder how much time he spent on the tour bus when nobody was looking ????? brisk walking maybe at the average of 3/4mph you could cover the distance without running a yard, stop for the odd pint here and there and still make it.
Am I the only sceptic here
yep,i know where you are coming from but when i saw him he was running, not walking in a brisk manner! no one else with him at the time, just a st georges flag in his hand. so praps someone has done something they say they have in this corrupt media world.Originally Posted by BondandBigM
Well done Eddie 8) One of my fav comedians and not a bad actor. I once saw an interview with him where he said he'd wanted to join the forces when he was young. Well now he's done something very few servicemembers could do - he should be proud!
I read that his time for the distance has dropped from 10hrs at the start, which pretty much is walking pace, to 5hrs currently, which isn't. To be honest, even walking >150 miles a week, week after week, would be pretty difficult for most people - I certainly wouldn't fancy doing it.
I heard him being interviewed at the start of it and he was very honest in his description of his pace - quite simply that he wasn't running every minute. That said, he was told by his trainers that he needed to prep for a minimum of 6-month and as said above, he did 5-weeks before he started!Originally Posted by Seabadger

He has run at least 27 miles a day, six days a week, over the past seven weeks, covering more than 1,110 miles of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland."

is very impressive and hats off to him.
He was also becoming a great actor. The guy is coming into his element. I found his interviews on TV showed him to be a very honest and likable guy
I, too, think the guy is a selfless hero. I only heard about it towards the end. He's been living this for a while. I've done 1 Marathon - which was enough !
Top Bloke.
In fact - I'm going to post him in the Heroes section !
Martin.
Will he appear in the footsie 100?
I wont be filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, I am not a number, I am a free man, my life is my own!!!
Be seeing you
Toodle pip
Griff.
I can't comprehend how hard that must have been. RESPECT to the (wo)man!
Apparently he doesn't have any toe nails now! And has got to run every day or so, to slowly readjust back to a normal lifestyle.
Top man very impressive, I wish I could run 26 odd miles!
  i'm staggered, hats off
Top bloke, good on him. Not only is he bloody hilarious, but he has determination and public spirit too.
I really wish the BBC would stop printing nonsense within their articles though:
Complete rubbish. A chap at work runs marathons or half marathons every weekend and his normal training run is 17.8 miles every other day. He says there's no "suggested recovery time" at all.Just the one marathon race is enough for super-fit modern athletes, and the pinnacle of achievement for "fun runners". The suggested recovery time afterwards is two to three weeks.

Obviously if you're running 50 - 60 miles a week as a matter or course, then your body is pretty much accustomed to it and the recovery isn't as necessary. For a fun runner, I'd suggest 2 to 3 weeks is a minimum...
