Dear all
What is your favourite dial colour and why, please post pics and reasons why.
Thanks
Ben H
on a bright summers day I love the yellow dial of a Seiko 6139, my daily tool watch...
I like pale blues most for dressy stuff...
or black for everything else...
Blue, because it is my favourite colour and different to the norm
Gunmetal grey, I want an IWC Spitfire in such a color.
Probably black on the whole but some watches surprise me in what they can get away with :)
"I looked with pity not untinged with scorn upon these trivial-minded passers-by"
Apart from black, probably orange, as I have a few of them.
None quite so orange as this old thing - ironically called the Deep Blue :D
The dials I like best are white, silver or black...plain or guilloched....or enamel. Depends on the watch. Hope that helps :D
Probably Orange, but also black is a favourite too
Mark
My tastes have evolved. I used to prefer white but now I think black is my favorite because it's so versatile:
I really would like a blue dial though. In particular, I like the blue on the first Tudor Sub in this link:

black or dark dark gray, goes with most everything
Almost every watch i have has a black dial. So I have 2 white dialled ones incoming. It depends on the case, hand, numeral etc design though. For sport and everyday black is unobtrusive, discreet and legible, though i do like blue as shown in the SARB045 here:

For dress watches I prefer white or grey/ steel but the rest of the package needs to balance. The watch I most lust after is this Longines:

Almost perfect.
8) 8) 8) love it .Originally Posted by BigD

Some of the current crop.
Cheers,
Gary
Usually a dark dial man, but love the white dial SMP GMT (missed out on a couple on SC recently...) and the silver Day Date Speedy.
Black in general, but I do appreciate an orange dial on a diver.
At the moment it's silver. But that changes nearly every week or so.
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
Simple: Something that contrasts the hands...
someone tell JLC
Normally black....but Exp 11 white dial is superb. The white dials I own are Ebel Discovery & a Longines Dolce Vita chrono' both very nice in white & suit the style beautifully IMO.
Cheers.
Black for me; depends on the watch. Silver with gold hands/batons works well on vintage. Blue is OK too.
Paul
Thanks for all the opinions so far, more pics if you have them please.
Also does the dial colour dictate the type and or colour of strap you go for or do you just wear what feels right?
Regards
Ben H
Ps Sorry if this is another question, just interested
Black or white for me... but I love some of the coloured bezels... e.g. the green rolex submariner LV... nice... and the orange bezel on the Omega PO
Yes the Orange Dial on the PO is very eye catching and would be the one i would go for, Lottery Win permitting!
White - goes with everything and changes with the lighting
Guess black is my favourite considering most of my collection have black dials but it is imperative to have a white dialed watch for that
'classier' occasion!

Eugene

Any color, so long as it is black.
Wow, love this! Do you have any more pictures of this and the model information? Looks absolutely stunning.Originally Posted by Omegary

Here a bit more info for you:
Model ref:166.089, calibre 750 and it dates from 1970. I bought it off fleabay around 5 years ago, as a gamble really, from the US. Out of focus pics, no info and from a seller who obviously knew nowt about watches. It was rank when it arrived but a clean up and a little TLC did wonders. I was amazed at the transformation.
Cheers,
Gary
Thanks for the quick post back with the extra pics and info Gary, that really is an absolutely beautiful watch. Never had myself down for liking vintage watches but looks like I've fallen for one thats older than me. Not that it ever will, but should it end up on the SC be sure to give me a heads up :D
Paul.
BLACK
Chris.
I have always preferred Black faced watches, I have had an Orange Monster before and an Orange faced Orsa Monstrum, Nice but I sold them on.
So my collection consists of wholey black faced watches except One Seiko Velatura(White), and 2 blue faced, (rolex and Samurai)
Heres a few quick pics, I thought I would include my Sumo which arrived today
I Love It!!!
Samurai, Very dark blue.
Rolex, Very deep shiney blue.
And Velatura on a nice dark brown 26mm strap
Black, because its classic and universal. :)
I also rather like this brown dial as you don't see them very often....
1st: Noir
2nd: Bleu
3rd: Blanc
:D
Silver Satin Dial on Marcello C N3
Blue Dial on 2531.80
It depends on the watch pure and simple as that. For example, if you were to put a white face on a Rolex Milgauss GV it would not work, the same for the Sub and sea dweller. Yet both White and Black work well on Explorers and Daytonas. Black is the most common colour out there and I think therefore I have to vote for that as it works with pretty much everything.
Black dial for me, although I have one Tag F1 with a red dial, somehow that's the one that gets noticed more, over Rolex, Pam, IWc and Omega, go figure
this colour..... :P then when its blue
Was always black for me, then the wifey got me a blue faced Breitling, have to admit, it has really grown on me. Doesn't seem to stand out as a colour, is more like 'blued' steel hands.
Kent
Ive always really had black and then i bought a bright red Tag f1, im now liking the bright yellow dials but i must reisit..........
Black is the norm for me, that said, seen a few blue and pale yellow's lately I quite like.
Obviously depends on the watch but a lot of black dials can look very samey (look at my Speedmaster site  ) so I think white is my all time favourite dial colour.
Cheers,
Neil.
Definitely Black which I find easier to read although Neil's Explorer above is great.
I'm somewhat partial to the brushed aluminium of this:
Up until a few weeks ago it was blue or black but today it is green again
best ivoire
I must admit, I'm partial to blue dials.
