I picked up this Vostok down the local flea market - it looked even worse then.

It's a handwinder, presumably with the anti-mag plate in back. I rather like these octagonal cases, and the bezel is a bit nicer than the "standard" Vostok one, though it's showing some brassing. I can live with the bilous green dial - I have a few black-face beaters. What I can't live with is the lume - or rather anti-lume. So what I have in mind is to get the markers lumed, perhaps extending over the old "anti-lume blobs", and the hands of course. This leaves the bezel. I was thinking of stripping the chrome, painting it black and leaving the markers in base-metal. Any comments?

An alternative would be to strip the dial and bezel from this one, but I'm quite fond of it, even if I hardly wear it.
