Thread: 'Extreme' Watch-wearing.

    'Extreme' Watch-wearing.

Ok, I admit, this is a daft topic but should get some good photos. Partially inspired by the equally daft sport of extreme ironing that I read about in the Metro a couple of years back:

    http://www.extremeironing.com/

Let's have photos of watches being taken out into the great outdoors. There have been some great photos of some dive watches being used for (actual) diving in the past. A lovely shot of a Daytona in the snow in Scotland (sorry can't remember the owner/photographer). I would start with a photo of me surfing with a Breitling Steelfish in Bali, Indonesia but work has blocked my facebook. Will dig it up later.

Feel free to add stories of where the watches have travelled.

I'll play: I like daft topics!

The world record for the numbers of divers simultaneously ironing underwater was broken in January here in the UK, when 86 divers organised the challenge at a quarry in Gloucestershire. I had planned to go along and take some pics, but a head cold and the thought of water temp of 5ºC persuaded me otherwise!

Dartmoor last month (it's a snowmans arm  ):

I don’t have this one anymore... it fell off on a powder run – never did find it..

Saves you having to pull back your glove to tell the time whilst skiing, and slows you down a bit on steep runs

Bit hard on the straps though and ideally you need a watch on each ski to balance the breaking effect

Nearly right Bry; it's Burgh Island in Bigbury Bay.

That pic of the snow is close ot Okehampton; the closest we could get in fact, as the town was cut off in the snow.

You should come down & stay over.

Thank you. It was one of a sequence of three I took, whilst trying out my newly-acquired 18-200mm lens (as recommended by Doug!).

It would be nice to stayover at Devon, only know the area from delivery work tho know it quite well. Feel sorry for the Army camp based near Oke!

Not particularly extreme - but here's a pilot's watch being used as such (not that a 5 pound Casio wouldn't do the same job! :D ).

I don't suppose many would class fishing as extreme, but when you're near chest deep in fast flowing water, roll casting a 16 foot 10 weight fly rod for Salmon, I certainly would.

No pics of me with a watch doing that, as I wouldn't take a camera into such conditions. I used to wear a Rotary Diver for fishing, but now I've got an Unterwasser it's my go-to watch for all my fishing.

I did take some pics of the Parssaround 17C on a couple of fishing trips for Pike on our local canal though. Didn't land a big one that day, but the teeth on this bugger could still do some mischief....

Oh, and the lunchtime pint was EXTREMEly good too.

    Best Regards - Peter

    Alaska ....

Spent a couple of nights camping next to this glacier, and paddling through icefields in the day - a bit chilly. This is when a NATO works well on a Sub .....
