Thread: a tale of three watches.....

    a tale of three watches.....

A while back i bought a mint Timor, MOD redial. It was as new. However i didn't jell with it. Within a couple of months i saw a lovely WW2 timor at an amazing £85 BIN on ebay, hands with no lume but nice dial. However when i got it i discovered that it was also poorly housed within a record case. i got some original hands and set original WW2 timor dial in the NOS case (sorry no sentiment about keeping MOD Timor as is), and regrettably shoe horned the later timor into the record case. OK, so then i see and win a record watch which has a longines case (yes i spotted during auction) go figure that one out. Eureka figure i got the recorded sorted. So finally no closer to a conclusion but with a nice Timor, record watch (all bar the caseback which is a timor) an now a partially complete Longines (had 12.68z 15j movement and hands).

Am i the only crazy one, or have others done such behaviour.

    WW2 Timor in NOS case.

    Record in Longines case

Record in record case, next to NATO record

    Record case back timor

    Timor back

So as you can see, i now have a minty Timor movement and dial, and a caseback. Maybe there's someone out thee with a record back on a Timor or any other combination. As to the Longines well that's another story :)

Some watches are more than a sum of their parts!
Hope you can find a movement and parts for the Longines.

    Best wishes,
    AP:)

Yes, I've done this with Seiko's in the past. This is a patient way to piece together I nice kit for much less and "NOS". Neat story, and reminds me of some of my past 'bay purchases.
