    New competition: ugliest watch.

    From the earlier photo competition.

Okay. I still have some watch bits and bobs about to be used as prizes, so here is one final competition with which to end the academic year. (I don't want any jokes about academics swanning about over the whole summer. If it were only so!)

Submit a picture of the watch you think is the ugliest you have seen. The competition ends at 23:59GMT, Friday 18th June. The prize is a nearly new 2 piece black Rhino with black fixings. I will be the sole judge of the winner (for some value of "winner"), as I have significant experience and expertise in the ugliness arena. Anything goes with regard to the pictures. If you have talent in the ugly watch department, submit a picture of your own prototype. However, I would recommend getting stock photos from well known watch firms as they have decades of experience in making ugly watches.

    Best wishes,
    Bob

PS: If two qualitatively identical watches (pictures thereof) are submitted, only the first one submitted will be considered as a candidate.

    Best wishes,
    Bob

It should be an ugly watch you have owned or do own. I can think of hundreds of real ugly watches that I would never touch. Think Rolex Leopard.

Nah. Never owned are okay. However, I would be really careful about submitting a picture of a watch that you know someone on the forum owns. :)

How the hell do you actually tell the time on those things? At least I guess it means the crystal is harder to scratch...

Maybe the bezel rotates and the time just sort of peeks around it?

    My Contest Candidate

    Hi guys,

it was a very difficult decision, but here is my official contest candidate:
    :pukeright: :pukeleft: :pukeright: :pukeright: :pukeleft:

But there are so many lovely watches and I like to share some pictures:

    Lordex Digital (mechanical)

    Technomarine Tourbillon watch

I actually can't remember the source, but I guess it is a piece of eBay crap:

    Zanetti Imperio

Sorry if I make you feel sick.

    /Hal

This is one of my own - a Vostock watch commemorating the 300th anniversary of St Petersburg (give or take the odd name change). I was sent it by mistake by the supplier. The more I look at it, the more bling it seems. . .

    I didn't John, thanks.

I don't think this watch is ugly, simply utilitarian. The case is very plain but the dial is very easy to read, almost clock like in appearance.

Keeps time to + 15 seconds a day so I won't complain for £16.

    LMAO!!

It is fugly though. The designer didn't have a clue about proportions. How difficult would it have been to alter them slightly and make them more Lange-1815 printing like?

The more gold and diamonds you find on these watches , the more you find these men are less educated and more of "Macho". These men are so busy with their own business and selves that they probably won't have enough time for their women, but they might just have enough time for a quick extra-marital adventure ?

But a case in point for the old adage that "the only thing worse than a fake Rolex is a real one" - at least this one is.

The competition ended at 23:59GMT on Friday. I've had a busy last few days, and haven't had time to review the entries. I'll try to get around to it tonight. (Not too close to bedtime, however. I don't want nightmares. :) )

    Ugly Watch News

As the current grandmaster of bad watch taste I?m bearing responsibility to give advice to the people. So I like to add two new  wonderful watch models. IMHO many watches of the ?haute joaillerie? are highly recommendable to show bad taste.

Corum is always one of the best ways to show the connection between having much money and a bad taste  :
