Dressed down dweller - what do you reckon?

Love my Seadweller but wanted to 'toughen it up a little' so I put this on it - what do you think?

It was a bit of a struggle to get the bracelet off but I quite like it :D

Better pics can follow but here's a couple with my phone:

I think that looks better on bracelet or nato, the rubber "bracelet" doesn't do it for me.

It does actually look fairly decent in the flesh and the strap does fit a treat - its a 20mm.
I did have a quick look at Eddies but didn't fancy trimming the 22m - how come you reckon it wont need trimming - have you tried one?

yes mate have the 24mm fitted on all my seikos (22mm) they are very soft and the slack fills the gap between, the lugs and head,

Re: Dressed down dweller - what do you reckon?

I'm not keen on it either, no offence but it reminds me of a Seiko on the rubber strap. I've put a couple of my watches on Nato's and I love them. Very comfortable and a good fit with the tool watch image.

I haven't tried my SD but the sub looks nice IMO.

Sorry to say this but I think you've made a £3000 watch look like a £30 watch.

It was worth a try but doesn't do it for me. Try to look for something a bit plainer in style, I think Omega's Planet Ocean looks great on rubber so there must be a strap out there that suits the SD.

I'm with you on that! NATOs just don't look good to me. I understand the "tool" element of them, but they ruin the look of a lot of good watches on here....

not a fan, i would go for a plainer style rubber strap if i was going to put it on rubber at all. Anyone tried a croco strap on a sports rolex, would be interested to see how that looked.

Worth a try but no from me.

Re: Dressed down dweller - what do you reckon?

Hmmm, quite a universal no then - £30 wasn't quite what I had in mind, Chris

On the bracelet I am wearing it to death at the expense of my daytona and my date just and the idea went something along the lines of - I loved my PO on rubber so I will put the dweller on rubber and then:

Datejust at work when wearing a suit,
Dweller (on rubber) for casual, etc
Daytona for night time wear when I am not going to be punching away at a keyboard (the daytona bracelet and desks are not the best of bed-fellows :D )

I dont want the dweller on leather as I want to swim, train, sauna, steam in it and so it has to be rubber or back to square one.

At least, looking like £30 it will keep the muggers away

Its stopping how it is for the minute anyway, I cant face the trauma of 'the change' just yet!

Great, If you like it that's all that matters. In the meantime enjoy it, I'll look forward to seeing what else you can find for it, when you've forgotten how difficult it was to get on and off.

Better get on with some work now, that's what I was sat at the computer for in the first place.

Quick, put it back on the bracelet before anyone notices what you've done.

I echo some of the comments re NATO's and the like. They can "make" a certain type of watch but not this one.

    Me neither.

Fair enough for trying something different, but the SD should stay on the bracelet IMHO. Of my collection the SD is the only one (that I regularly wear) that's still on it's bracelet as I prefer leather straps as a rule.

I agree that the dweller looks great on the bracelet - its just that its the only one of my three that I could really "play with" as it - as we all know - is so flexible and looks the part whether casual or smart.

That rubber strap is like one of the fat suits they wear in Little Britain. Why not put the SD on a beautiful waterproof leather strap? I'm a particular fan of DiModell, but there are plenty of other possibilities.

And yes, you're right about NATOs; if they had a different name, eg. "NANCY", they wouldn't be half as popular. Why wear nylon, when you can wear leather or steel? (You rubber fetishists are a law unto yourselves)...

Re: Dressed down dweller - what do you reckon?

Love the origianl bracelet - love NATO's - seen a couple on an Omega leather band clasps and that looked almost made to measure.

Lovely watch in any guise and good of you to try the look ad feel for yourself - I'm all for a bit of change every now and again - it wasn't my favorite look - but how would we find the RIGHT look if we didn't try a few alternatives!
It's just a matter of time...

I'll try it on my Di-Modell at some point - I didn't try it yesterday as it is 22m - an as new Chronissimo so I might try and swap it for a 20mm version if anyone is interested ?

If you want it to look more like a tool, my vote would be a black or olive Nato, or a simple black rubber strap.

That, to me, looks absolutely ridiculous - like he broke the proper strap just before the event and had to find something to tie it to his wrist

That is terrible! - £2500 of prime steel on a tenner of rubber does not go

Re: Dressed down dweller - what do you reckon?

Leave it on the bracelet, full stop :)

All the Rolex sports models are unfinished between the lugs, and having tried various Nato/leather options mine always returns to the bracelet. I think, as a WIS I get a bit bored sometimes with just how perfectly every aspect of my Sub-Date does its job, then mess about with straps and realise that 50 years of design have resulted in a watch I can't improve upon  :)

Doesn't look good on the rubber... I do like the look of them on a Nato though, makes it more of a "tool" watch, then use the bracelet for a "dress" look... but rubber... no!

3 x 500ml cans of holsten pils, half a bottle of Jacobs Creek Shiraz and just the one can of that Carlsberg Special Brew otherwise known as loony juice....

Oh, sorry - I forgot - half a can of the wife's Strongbow Super (she couldn't finish it!)

That was Friday night though
