    Why Ebay is so successful

Check out this completed auction. Apparently someone paid $1800 for this 'Panerai'

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... otohosting

The bit where he says it was 'converted to quartz by his watchmaker' is a classic!

OMG! How do they get away with it and why aren't ebay stopping them?.

All I can add it the buyers name is extremely apt.

    Cheers,

    Question -

Why would you replace the gorgeous automatic movement with a quartz :?: :?:

    Outrageous!

Ebay - successful because it allows a lot of this to happen!
It's just a matter of time...

Even more amazing check the guys feedback. Positive for that watch...

And the same guy sold a cartier santos 100 for $2400 and received postive feedback...

Either the buyers are stupid or this guy is giving his watches away.

 It's like buying a Porsche 911 Turbo and replacing the engine with something out of a Hillman Imp

Hey my first car was an Illman Imp, great little alloy engine :D what you should have said was "like taking the engine out of an HIllman Imp and putting an old Porsche lump in." IMO :D

The replaced movement (as shown in the plastic casing) is neither automatic, nor authentic. Obviously the bidder got the shitty end of the stick or the seller bid on his own "watch" to increase his feedback.

eBay aren't stopping them becuase by the time you've paid their fees and possibly had to use paypal they are a couple of hundred quid up on this sale!! :(.

What really gets my goat is they let this kind of thing sell yet i got my auctioned pulled for descriping an item as new despite the fact it was second hand (unworn as i had explained in the acution). eBay said this was a breach of their rules as it was an inacurate description.....
