Sorry if this is an answered question. I seem to remember some discussion but can’t find the thread.
I’m a member of another forum (hi fi) where there is a very long running watch thread. A few members there have expressed an interest in joining here but are unable to get authorised or something. I know management has health issues so no stress but I was wondering if there was a procedure, secret handshake, password or other to enable membership of the forum. Or has entry been closed?
As far as I know, new memberships were closed a while back, due to an overwhelming number of bot/fake applications.
I believe that Eddie has not reopened to new members since and I suspect it isn't a top priority for him either.
I am sure those more knowledgeable will correct me if I am wrong.
Sounds about right. Eddie used to open it every now and again, but it would always get a bunch of bots and spammers, so I suspect produced a lot of work for him to weed them out each time. Given the other dramas in his life over the last several months, I'd guess it has taken a solid back seat in terms of priorities.

It’s not for me to offer the Boss advice, he has certainly had enough to deal with, but the forum is withering from the lack of new members. There may be an option to have a pool of moderators just to filter membership requests.
