    Recommend a battery conditioner/maintainer for a motorcycle.

As the title, I’m in the market for a battery conditioner for a motorcycle. Connect and forget kind of thing to maintain the battery between using.

Had an Oxford Oximiser which has decided to turn itself into a sticky mess on the case. So it’s in the bin and replacement needed.

    What do you use?
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Switched to Optimate after a BMW branded one died. Have three of them now, one of them is very old and still works fine.

Optimate for me; I have a couple in constant use and never had a problem with them...or the batteries they are connected to.

I have both optimate, oximiser and a cheapie Halfords one. They all work well but the Halfords one doesn’t have a quick release connector so can be a bit of a faff to use regularly.

    ^^^ this ^^^

Mine can be used for smaller batteries (m/cycles) and larger batteries (cars). I have mine for 20 yrs now. So perhaps newer types have even more features.

    Another vote for CTEK.
Mine is used for car batteries, leisure batteries and electric fence energiser batteries and has been faultless. Also works with motorcycles too I believe.

    I have several

    3 x Optimates, 1 x Ctek , 1 x Halfords and a Lidl cheapie

All work , but the most sophisticated of the Optimates is the best of the bunch IMHO

Optimate or CTek, but get one that caters for LA, AGM & Li Ion batteries.

Plug in direct to battery via waterproof tail clipped to frame below seat

I've had the same CTEK charger for 17 years. It's been faultless.

Is it a battery tender/conditioner, though? or just a charger.

Thanks guys for taking the time to reply.

Seemed it was a toss up between the Optimate and CTEK so have ordered an Optimate 3. Once again thanks.

Optimate CTEK and Novo are good. Still go back to my very old optimate though.

    All the best!

    another vote for optimate.

    * the newer lithium gel batteries require a different charger to a standard battery (if you didnt know this and have one)
