    Boot relates question

Is there a company that makes boots in what I'd call the "Timberland style" but of higher quality?

As long as you go for the heritage premiums, the quality is good enough. Not Redwing quality (not Goodyear welted), but at least the soles are indestructible unlike the RWs which on heavy use can only last a couple of years, before a £100+ resole.

Not perfect, but my burnt orange pair are now 15+ years old (used winter only and in rotation) and still going strong. Goodyear welt is not essential as the sole is bulletproof and will last as long as the uppers, and as long as the construction is good.

I also have a chocolate brown pair of heritage premiums and the are much younger at less than 5 years old, and quality is just as good.

I wouldn’t touch cheaper Timberlands with a barge pole, but will happily buy a pair of 6 inch heritage premiums again.

I have two pairs of Panama Jacks (thanks to another boots post on here a couple of years ago) they're not Timberland type, but they are fantastic boots. Very comfy and superb quality leather.

I found a nice pair of new Clarks on the bay - Craftmaster III with the Goodyear welted sole. So have taken a punt on those.

I have Redwing, Danner and Diemme, all are very good quality boots.

In fact Big Nose Dave got me into Diemme, no better recommendation.

    Hi

I am still using a pair of their boots from 15yrs+ ago (look after my kit!) and had them resoled couple of years back - made to measure to fit individual feet.

Take awhile after measure-up but worth investigating - use for boot, ideal leather, sole type for use, all get worked through with you........
