Day and date.
Smart enough to wear with anything, can be dressed down if required.
Basic clasp and poor lume let it down but I am being fussy as it does everything I could want of a watch
I would go with a 124270 Explorer.

Sinn 556 has to also be in with a shout. I picked mine up again after a year or so and remembered why it was my everyday watch for almost 3 years.
I cannot see it happening but if I ever had to reduce to one watch only it would probably be one of my Moonwatches, likely the one with the (original, black) Snoopy dial. It looks really smart on its bracelet but equally suits a wide variety of straps.
My 'problem' is that, after many years of chopping and changing I now have roughly 25-30 watches that I really do like. There are very few that I could part with too easily.
Likewise on arabics - ok for primary school kids but not for adults.
Quite a lot of watch dials from many companies used the cockpit instrumentation with Arabic numerals as inspiration.
Just three examples here, inspired by cockpit timers/clocks what have you.
Others such as Revue Thommen, Breguet, Auricoste, have used Arabics on their face.
I love Arabics, makes a watch look 'watchy/ tooly' made for purpose.

Surprisingly - if it had to be one watch from the collection - it would be this: 200m wrt, audible time signal on the hour, backlit display for nighttime, multifunction, g-shock, solar powered, radio 6-band synchronous. Easy to read with calender.
(I wear swimming trunks instead of a suit these days).

The activity that I do which is most likely to damage a watch is mountain biking. So reluctantly I would have to say my one watch would be my G Shock. I rarely need to wear a suit so it technically would be fine 99% of the time.
However if I could go watchless on the mountain bike (or stick it in my pack) my one watch would be my CWC RN Diver. Tough enough and waterproof enough for everything else I do and can be dressed up a bit with a nice strap.

I do like to have a date complication, so it would have to be my SD43. If date wasn't needed I would scale back to my black FXD Pelagos.

No, I wouldn’t mind if the Mark XX didn’t have a date window. I’d probably prefer it. Although I think the date may be more useful once I’m full retired.
BB54 for me. Slim, light, adjustable clasp, hides under sleeve, quietly awesome.
That's an absolute highlight on the Explorer IMO.
Possibly this one.

Maybe not what I'd expect to say looking at the collection, but the reality is I wear my BB58 blue 99% of the time - it has pretty much turned me into a one watch guy since buying it nearly 3 years ago. So it would have to be that!
Perfect size for me, super solid and excellent time keeping, plenty of water resistance, very clear lume, classic style that works well on bracelet/erica's/leather. And having started when I got into this thinking I need a date, I need a chrono etc, I actually love the clear dial - and makes it very easy to set if that 70 hour pr ever runs out.
And maybe the best feature is it's not THAT expensive, so I don't feel as much of a target as with Rolex, or the need to take it off if I'm gardening or DIY or whatever (can someone remind me to delete this bit if I decide to move it on).
