UK pension, living in Europe - advice

    Hi

A mate of mine lives in Europe and has a UK final salary built up from previous employment in the UK.

He's having trouble doing anything with it as it seems as if there is a specific type of advice he needs to obtain in order to move it into a SIPP - if that is the right route. Or, maybe just someone willing to have a chat with him to understand the details better.

I know we have pension/financial advisors on here so thought I'd ask if anyone here may be able to help or point towards someone who might be able to. I would only put the two parties in touch and then step away as the details are not my business.

    Thanks

Definitely get some good advice from someone who knows tax law in both countries. Not only is it rarely worth moving a final salary pension but also some countries have nowhere near the tax breaks that UK does when doing so - the last thing you want is a CGT bill from the local tax authority.
