Need help, anyone with an Huawei Mate P20 Pro

Having a problem sending MMS messages on my Huawei P20 Pro and hoping someone may know of a hidden menu that I might need to adjust.
My phone is on Giffgaff, runs on O2 network, and I have checked the APN settings, replaced the Sim, and have credit that should enable me to send MMS messages. I have tried a different phone and still cant send MMS messages.
I can receive messages ok and did manage to send 2 messages last week , although they did take 3 hours to get through. The 2 that did get through were the same as 2 of the 3 that failed.
According to giffgaff the problem is my phone or my APN settings which I dont understand as 2 did get through.

Any help or advice gratefully received as I'm pulling what little hair I have out.

I know I could use something like WhatsApp but I just find MMS easier.

    Thanks

Check in your message settings if RCS chat has been enabled. I think it only sends sms chat over data/WiFi if it's turned on. I was trying to contact my son the other week (who had no data left) and he wasn't receiving them because unbeknown to me Google had updated the sms settings to RCS.

3G is in the process of being turned off on a regional basis from October-23 to end of 2024.
Your 3g signal could be disabled now, and need the 4g (or 5g) setting on the phone to be activated.

It is worth checking just in case the default is 3g.

    Many thanks for your suggestions.

I have checked what you suggested and all seemed ok. What I have done is to switch from auto search for network to manual.
I selected o2 instead of giffgaff and to my surprise mms messages now send.

So a result as such but still confusing.

Anyway thanks again , all fixed for now.

Have you tried ringing the Chinese embassy's tech support?
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
