Garmin 660 GPS - Motorcycle GPS

Is anyone using one of these who can offer me some advice please? They were also an option on BMW GS' at one time, but called something different.

Contact on the thread or by PM would be OK.

I have the 340LM the budget alternative to the 660. The 660 allowed you to control your music too. What is your question about the unit ?

I don't have a question. What I do have is a faulty Garmin 660, for which I bought a new battery in the hope that it might enable me to fix the problem. It didn't. I don't want to throw the battery away, I would rather that someone with a compatible unit was able to use it. I don't want anything for it.

    Ah-hah!

Yeah, that battery is particular to the Zumo660/Navigator IV.

    Nice gesture.

But - what is the 660 doing? Have you tried connecting it to a PC/laptop which has Basecamp & Garmin Express installed? Sometimes they just need 'woken up' by going into Data-mode when plugged in.

The problem is that map updates can't be uploaded to the GPS. There is a comms problems and all external attempts to fix it have failed. I even spoke to Garmin, who have been excellent in the past, but have said on this occasion that the GPS is faulty and would be best replaced. The two batteries that I had for it were dying, hence buying a replacement battery.
