    Worth bearing in mind that the "richest fifth" figure there represents an awful lot more money than the contribution from the "poorest fifth". The top 10% carry about 60% of the income tax burden, a lot of it of course going to services they don't actually use. Oddly they receive little gratitude for this, just dog's abuse.

    Well - obviously. Every expense necessarily hits people on low incomes harder, otherwise there'd be no point having a higher income.

    No - certain categories of expenses hit the lowest income groups, hardest.
