    Any iddeas for plastic?

We are clearing out in-laws house and has a load of old l.p's and singles. Most are 60's and not of much interest but the singles have some old goldies
Telstar, Toto, Wham, Stevie Wonder, Love Affair etc.

Anyone know if there's any market for this stuff?

I'm sure theres old record stores in the UK, but what they buy?

    Condition is everything. Also music

If they can sell it. They'll buy it

I have a whole shelf of my dad's 78's Have to see if anyones interested

Been looking in to this recently as have a load of my dads 78s which haven’t seen the light of day since the 80s.
Unless you’ve got some early Beatles stuff which were made in India and the odd Elvis album they’re virtually worthless.
Spoken to quite a few people over the last 6 months who buy and sell 78s and they may as well be used for Clay pigeon practice.

Like with most collectible genres, 99% of that will have little to no value, but there could be that one gem, the first pressing, the obscure label, the low run that only a nerd will recognise, you would need a specialist to go through them or take the time to catalogue them properly or search each one up.
    Cheers..

Vinyl's been 'back' big-time for a number of years, so there's always potentially some value if condition is reasonable
Unless you have lots time on your hands, it's probably best offering what you have as a collection to a local dealer like (e.g.) the one near us - Uptown Vinyl Records.

Even if it's of negligable value, at least it's not adding to the plastic pollution issue in landfill.

Is there no such thing as a 'vinyl checker' take a photo app like you get for Lego, wine and suchlike?

    If not, there should be!

EDIT - ah, beaten to it by hogthrob, seems discogs has one.

I had about 120 singles and about 20 LPs. Quite an eclectic little collection. Nothing special though. No space for a deck or storage, so was lucky enough to have a record shop close to me who took the lot. I got £100 which I was quite happy with.

Whilst not the same 'vibe', I have most of what I listen to in mp3 form now anyway.

Depends on your motivation. But many charity shops will sell records and be grateful for the donation. They usually have a tame expert who will sort the wheat from the chaff.

I liquidated a friends collection on eBay a few years back. Beatles etc seen some interest but the absolute clear winners were Black Sabbath. Sold for hundreds each

It is not reliable though because many releases of the same album can have the same catalog number and their value can be different but more importantly if selling on Discogs, you need to list the exact version you are selling. Still it's a starting point.
