Red Bull F1 chase drone footage

Fascinating stuff, especially the footage of MV lapping in the wet. Amazing aero insights too, albeit of an older generation car.

Drone technology is developing at an extraordinary rate, the display drones amaze me, it won't be long before they are like the ones in science fiction movies

The display type drones are something else indeed. All the synchronised things they can do. I recall seeing some display where there where at least a hundred of them lit up and flying at night, all controlled by some amazing computer program. Fantastic.

As far as the F1 chase drone went......I reckon it was harder for him than it was for MV! I'm sure I'd have hit one of the bridges!

Saw that and it's amazing how much sliding MV was doing in the wet, something you don't normally see on the usual camera angles.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

There have been recent drone footage from Cyclocross / Mountain bike races. Clearly the speeds are lower ( much lower), but the drones are following the riders avoiding tree branches and other physical obstacles deep in the forests.

These views are really giving us an insight into the delicate handling eg the MV slides that ordinarily we wouldn’t see.

    Thanks for posting

Awesome, amazing clarity with no loss of focus.
Would love to see it being filmed on a dry lap.

Great link, impressive stuff indeed, good to see an F1 car from that perspective even in the wet
