Rolex DateJust Bi-Metal strap clasp types?

    Hi All,

Grateful for a bit of an education.

On a DateJust bi-metal, were all older bracelets always like this (where the clasp is full stainless steel - NOT bi-metal?)

What year, roughly, did they switch to the below (where there is gold on the clasp).

Are there any pros/cons to the gold on the clasp?
Is one particularly more desireable than the other, in terms of design.

    Thanks

2006 was the change, with the introduction of 6 digit models with polished lug tops and fatter lugs. The later bracelet is more substantial but the gold through the clasp will invariably scratch and get worn.

The earlier 16234/16200 and later 116234/116200 are significantly different watches, strongly recommend you handle bother before deciding which you prefer.

Edit: the numbers I've quoted are for steel versions, but the same applies
